It's based on a novella by Stephen King, The Body. Most don't know it. I shocked my wife and daughter when I told them that because they thought King only wrote horror.Stand By Me is maybe my favorite movie of all time. I still get goosebumps during the opening monologue..."I was 12 going on 13, the first time I saw a dead body. It happened in the summer of 1959, a long time ago, but only if you measure in terms of years." God that later line is so heavy. You know, a great director just tragically died, let's all stop making it about Trump
That movie resonated with me so much when I was that age. My friends and I would do the " we are staying at so and so's house" trick every weekend it seemed. Then we would just stay out all night. Only up to good stuff, I swear.
yep. I am a big King fan. His non-horror stories are just as good if not better than his horror stories. The Body(Stand By Me), Rita Hayworth and Shawshank Redemption(The Shawshank Redemption), and Apt Pupil(horror) all come from a collection called Different Seasons. The Green Mile is one of my favorite books and movies. As is his newer novella The Life Of Chuck. I just got done reading 11/22/63. @dbmhoosier This is a very sad story. The President made a mistake in the timing in what he said, though I can't it to be inaccurate. It appears Reiner and his wife were stabbed to death. If they had been shot to death the gun control folks would make the same mistake as Trump which is about timing. A couple was killed by their son so that is the main topic and anything else is out of bounds
While I regarded God as a tyrant I thought my sin a trifle; But when I knew Him to be my Father, then I mourned that I could ever have kicked against Him. When I thought God was hard, I found it easy to sin; but when I found God so kind, so good, so overflowing with compassion, I smote upon my breast to think that I could ever have rebelled against One who loved me so, and sought my good.” C. H. Spurgeon

It amazes me that you're a Pastor, or so you say. The timing isn't the problem. The problem is that it's absolutely despicable.@dbmhoosier This is a very sad story. Have you ever considered that the President may be the antichrist? He's got people like you, who believe they're God-fearing Christians, defending despicable things that he says and does.
@snarlcakes LMAO. It's "chord." But no, he didn't "strike a chord." He "hit a nerve." Big difference.
The President made a mistake in the timing in what he said, though I can't it to be inaccurate.
Were you trying to say you can't say what Trump said is inaccurate?
If so, how did Reiner's political views or obsession with Trump cause his son--an addict since before Trump first took office--to kill him? That's batshit crazy.

Butch, it's what I say it is.
Let's not forget This is Spinal Tap and The Princess Bride.
.
The obvious choice for me, Princess Bride. It is in my top 5 greatest all-time, and I am not even sure of 3 others (Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid is 1). Both had Goldman's writing, but Bride required much more of the director. Pulling off that movie is a Hall of Fame moment.
I loved Reiner as "Meathead". My dad was Archie, he should have sued for royalties. My oldest brother was Michael. Reiner's and O'Connor's portrayals really hit home for me.
I still shake my head over what a thoroughly disgusting piece of dogshit that we have as POTUS.
The worst thing reality TV ever did was fool enough Americans into thinking he was a good and competent leader and executive.
A couple was killed by their son so that is the main topic and anything else is out of bounds
This statement is true. Everything else you said in that post, especially implying that the 'timing' of Trump's post was the only thing wrong what he wrote is seriously messed up. You should seriously consider Aloha's question about why Christian people like your are continuously tricked by Trump into believing he's never wrong.

@arthur-dent Reiner might be one of the few directors who created a lot of people's favorite movies in different genres. Misery, A Few Good Men, When Harry Met Sally, Stand By Me and Spinal Tap were all very, very different movies. I wouldn't be surprised to hear any of the people I know to name any one of them as their favorite movies. There are more I didn't include that people could throw on their 'favorite' list as well.
