Hilarious.  Fuck the pope.  He’s pro-immigration because it will generate more revenue for the dying church, nothing more.  🙄

I would be curious how being pro-immigration will generate more money for "the dying church"? First, last I checked, Catholicism has been growing significantly on average.  Second, I'm trying to figure out how pro-immigration would increase the church's coffers. Ostensibly, these immigrants are already going to the catholic church, and if not, how much do these immigrants donate to church? An old shoe? A bit of yarn?

The "fuck the Pope" deal seems bonkers. Seems to me that the Pope is doing what he is supposed to do.  He called out the Iranians all throughout January for violence.  He called out the Gaza war. He called out the current deal.  He's been nothing but consistent in its messaging.  My take on him is that he is good person, treats the world as his flock and wants peace and spiritual prosperity.

I say this being an agnostic who has read the bible cover to cover several times, who believes that Jesus existed, absolutely changed the world and was the most influential person in history.  The Pope isn't fake laying hands on people, fake talking in tongues and all that other bullshit that has repeatedly been exposed as fraudulent.  Rather, he is offering his spiritual solution that is entirely consistent with a Christian message. That is his right.  If you had no problem with Elon Musk going to Germany inciting and encouraging the far-right AFD' or JD Vance shilling for the ADF or Viktor Orban, or Trump stumping for Russia, or anything of that nature, you shouldn't have any problem with another head of state (the Pope), addressing his spiritual views.

The Trump administration has abruptly canceled an $11 million contract with Catholic Charities to shelter and care for migrant kids who have entered the US alone.

We're the party of boomer Pope's suck. You need a new young gun.  Any pope that says out loud Islam s#cks balls is a candidate.  Also a wardrobe change wouldn't hurt either.

He’s an incredibly petty man.

Are you referring to the Pope?  You might want to stop taking Butch Crawling posts serious.  They cut funding back in March prior to the spat.  Their stated reason was because there are a lot fewer unaccompanied migrant children, which is a good thing.

Bashing Trump is not advancing the Christian message.  Christianity has been under attack and systematically eliminated in the Middle East and Africa for decades without a peep from any Pope, President, Prime Minister, or Mulluh.  Yet the moment Israel violently convulses after October 7, even my own church passes a resolution of sympathy to the Palestinians.  Where have these people been for the last 50 years while Christian churches are burned and Christian believers are forced underground?

Some of what Trump has said recently about the Pope is indefensible, some of the lefties here are right to pile on and pounce because of it.  Yet where were you guys when the FBI thought it was ok to track Catholics as potential domestic terrorists?  Now it comes out the the DOJ had specific efforts to prosecute and impose harsh sentences on Christians for minor and meaningless SAFE act violations.

And left-wing cardinals joining with a left wing commercial media operation to bash Trump? What part of the Christian playbook does that come from?

It is now obvious that anything any politician says about Christianity, or anything any Christian leader says about politics is bullshit.  They all need to STFU.

”The President is an incredibly petty man” is a factual statement which doesn’t require any additional proof. Carry on.

I was just trying to help you out.  I know you struggle deciphering information on the internet.  It can be especially hard at your age.  Have yourself a Friday, buddy.

Some context.

LOL.  You think the president first started hating the pope on Easter Sunday?  The pope has been critical of the Iran War since the beginning, and had been promoting diplomacy over military aggression before it began.

The administration wasn't happy with some of those pre-war public pronouncements, which was a major factor in the Apostolic Nuncio being summoned to the Pentagon.

Trump was also no doubt pissed when the Vatican declined an invitation extended by Vance to Pope Leo for a White House visit on July 4, 2026, and the Vatican's subsequent announcement that the pope would not be visiting the US anytime in 2026.

The administration advised the Archdiocese of Miami of the cancellation of the Catholic Charities contract, a program that had been in place for 60 years, in late March.  Also in late March, Pope Leo issued a blistering criticism of the war.

Catholic Charities reportedly is still sheltering hundreds of unaccompanied migrant children in south Florida, so the need for funding remains.

Given Trump's vengeful nature and history, don't tell me there was no spite factor here.

You posted disingenuous information (at best) and I added context.  A simple me culpa, no response, or thank you is sufficient.  Piss off with all the excuses.   @goat can you add him to your list of posters, please?

Disingenuous?  LOL. But kudos for using a five-syllable word and spelling it correctly.

I linked a Miami Herald article and posted the first sentence of the article.  The piece was accurate in describing the abrupt cancellation of this 60-year contract.

On a different topic, I just read that the price of crude "has went down" today!  Good news!!

My wife is Catholic and we raised our 3 kids as Catholic.  I most often attended mass with them. though I am agnostic. I came to at least appreciate the church for good work they do, while also recognizing its flaws.

A constant week-to-week theme was the need of all people of good faith and means to give directed aid through Catholic charities to persecuted Christians in many countries where practicing the Christian faith was banned.  China, Russia, the Middle East, etc. It was framed as a mission that all of the church supported, popes, cardinals, bishops, pastors, nuns, deacons...

So the "without a peep" claim you made seems to be... ummm...  made-up crap.

Normally, I wouldn't bother posting her because she's so insanely ideological and biased, that it can't really lead to thoughtful discussion. But since we've kind of passed that point in the thread, anyway, Marina Hyde is at least hilarious:
