What a bizarre post....theological conservatism is a durable proxy for political conservatism.
Except for being anti-abortion, widely-held Catholic theological beliefs and political conservatism seem to very often be polar opposites
anti-abortion? check
Death penalty? Church Nope, MAGA yes
Feed the poor? MAGA Nope, Church yes
Love thy neighbor? MAGA Nope, Church yes
Seek peace? MAGA Nope, Church yes
Forgiveness is a virtue? MAGA Nope, Church yes
Peace and kindness over material wants? MAGA Nope, Church yes
Don't you claim to be a political conservative? Why are you now conflating political conservatives with MAGA?
Far be it from me to defend Shooter's dumb ass, but he's not doing that at all. He's trying (poorly) to respond to Farva's idiotic claim that theological and political conservatism walk hand-in-hand, as though the use of the same word in different contexts means they must be identical. Lazy thinking on Farva's part, amateur response on Shooter's, but I think that's clearly where he was trying to go.
For the life of me I don't understand what you're trying to take issue with. More Conservative parishes are more politically conservative, do you deny that? More progressive parishes will give you Homilies about suffering in the Gaza strip and respecting our LGBT neighbors. The same dynamic plays out in Judaism.
The pope has appointed a former undocumented immigrant (who gained US entry hidden in the trunk of a car) as bishop of West Virginia.
Pope Leo names bishop who once entered US illegally to lead West Virginia

This meeting, between two bright, competent, serious men, has a good chance of being productive.

Noting that there is a correlation isn't a problem. That's accurate. Moving past correlation to conflation is the problem. For example, even among the younger, more conservative priests, a higher premium was placed on focusing on migrants and the poor than most other issues. Now, the correlation comes in recognizing that the more conservative priests cared less about these issues than the older, more liberal priests. But the inaccurate conflation is pretending this means that the conservative priests think like regular old conservatives on these issues. They don't. If you were to place these conservative priests in the context of secular politics and ask about these issues, they'd sound like nothing more than another bunch of dirty progressives.

Trump has, once again, attacked the pope. And, once again, he's done it with a despicable, bald-faced lie.
Trump: The pope is "endangering a lot of Catholics and a lot of people" because he "thinks it's fine for Iran to have a nuclear weapon."
The pope has never said he supports Iran having a nuclear weapon.
This is another "I never thought I'd ever see this" thing for me - - a US president engaged in a relentless attack on the pope, a man of peace who is preaching the gospel.
There is not a doubt in my mind that Trump is a force of evil. He exudes hate, sows division and incites chaos. If you think I'm part of the problem because of that commentary, I couldn't care less. There's a plethora of evidence to support my viewpoint. And, in any event, I'm just a guy. Trump is the leader of the most powerful country on earth. He sets the tone. And his tone is consistently belligerent, caustic, vindictive and tragic. Just a f**king disaster.
Mission is to preach peace, says Pope in response to Trump attacks
