The US gave Pakistan nukes in the 50s in exchange for help against the Soviets. It was a long time ago but India remembers who armed and supported their rival. I think that’s one reason India has a go-it-alone attitude. We’ll probably find plenty of common ground w them re: china after the US moves past this populist phase.
