@co-hoosier baseball lacks the power of the incumbency. Incumbents win in overwhelming numbers. In baseball, being better is enough. In politics, having name recognition and money is far more valuable than better ideas.
His baseball/sports analogy actually destroys his argument. How often have we seen athletes hang on for too long. Ripken, Tony Gwynn, etc. Rodgers in football. Other guys way past their prime who deprive a younger guy of a roster spot and/or a chance to move up.
It's not just sports, happens in professional world all the time. Guys that are in their 70s still working because they have nothing else in their life, and would probably die if they retired. Nice people, but the type you have get on a phone call with to tell them how how to edit a word document, or to share their screen on a Teams call.... "Ok Bill, see the 3 dots up there, click on that and then hit share screen.... NO! Not that one! In the other window!"
I worked with a lot of faculty who stayed on long past their sell by date. Very esteemed, 30 years ago. No longer current and still commanding very nice salaries that could be used to attract future stars. But their work is all they knew so they were going to work until they died.
I agree with Obama but Condoleeza Rice has pushed this for a decade that old people should move aside for younger people in politics. So the idea is not original. Did he mention her name or just use her ideas to make folks think he is on to something? I voted for him but as time moves on I think his time as president looks worse and worse.
The dems rigged their primaries to keep Biden as their candidate so their establishment could remain in charge behind the scenes. I'd imagine Obama was a big part of that behind the scenes crowd. Maybe they should of had real primaries even though they are a joke. Instead they replaced a brain dead candidate with retard who uttered lots of nonsense about nothing.
That's nothing but opinion without any facts to back it up. Do you have anything suggesting Obama wanted Biden to run again? He was obviously going to support Biden over Trump. Anyone with half a brain would do so.
No primaries were rigged. That's just stupid. And you act like that was the first time someone ran in the general election without winning in the primaries.
Yea, Trump was a retard who uttered lots of nonsense and the morons in this country put him back in the white house. How's that concept of a health plan coming along? #covfefe How stupid does someone have to be in order to still buy the crap coming out of Trump's trap? You probably will start checking your mailbox daily for the $5000 check after the midterms lol
@twenty so true. I ran into Billy Busch day before yesterday at Starbucks. He’s buddies with my old boss from their polo days. Anyway he was telling me all the fun shit he’s into now. That’s the difference. Money. The old guys in my building don’t have the money to go do all that fun shit. So they keep their offices. Go to lunch with their friends. Then back to the office to hideout again from that wife. They don’t want to go to the mall or the botanical gardens 🤣. And they get yelled at for spending too much time at their second tier ccs
Neither Trump, his justice department, nor the investigation has anything to do with my point. Do you have anything relevant to add?
I’m barking up the tree Obama barked up. I reject his suggestion that a big problem is old farts clinging to power. Power is not a zero sum game nor is it a commodity to be passed around or bequeathed to a younger generation. It’s there to be taken and if there is a problem of too many old farts, it’s a result of young people not stepping up.
Age is not a disability.
Edit: Clancy’s lawyer is 75. He can out lawyer many 30 years younger. As you know, long jury trials are a grind.
Neither Trump, his justice department, nor the investigation has anything to do with my point.
You did make a side point about Kelly, calling him an "incessant whiner" about Trump. So it seems fair to point out the good reasons, such as being criminally accused (wrongly) of seditious conspiracy, plus calls to reduce his military retirement rank and to cut his pension.
All for reminding U.S. service members of their right (taken under oath) to refuse unlawful orders. In fact, they SHOULD refuse unlawful orders.
@larsiu that would be more fair than the current set up. If you are taking other people's money, you don't get to vote to take more of it is an extremely reasonable position.
You’re weakening your thesis by oversimplifying it.
COHVAC's thesis is simple...Obama said something.
.

I'm going to make this easy for you to understand.
You wrote: "He [Kelly] pisses off half the country with his incessant bitching about Trump."
I wrote: "Trump's fucking Justice Department tried to indict Kelly!"
You wrote: "Neither Trump, his justice department, nor the investigation has anything to do with my point."
What most people would logically infer from my comment about the indictment attempt is that Kelly has a very good reason for "bitching about Trump."
My comment has everything to do with your point.
This wasn’t his point. It was his rant."He [Kelly] pisses off half the country with his incessant bitching about Trump."

That has to be the best Starbucks in the world. Did Billy get a cake pop? They have a new Hedgehog one. It's solid.
No it’s not. He could have easily been kicked aside. No young Democrat stepped up.
@aloha-hoosier ’s buddy Kelly is a perfect example of my point. Here is a guy who was a combat navy aviator, an astronaut, and a commander of the shuttle. He has the resume to be president in landslide dimensions. So what does he do? He kisses Schumer’s ass, he kisses Sharpton’s ass, and he pisses off half the country with his incessant bitching about Trump. He eschewed the risk of creating his own path in the political jungle in favor of following the path of washed up old farts. He cudda had me with a Fetterman message. He shudda read Ike’s autobiography about becoming president.
Kelly isn’t the only example. But he has shown himself to be no better than Schumer and the others you mentioned. People like Kelly keep these old farts in power.
Kelly isn't my buddy. He's just a far better man than Trump and Hegseth put together in a multitude of ways and with their asinine claim that Kelly committed a crime. They put him on the national map. That asinine claim and jabs from Hegseth are why Kelly talks about them so often. However, in your world, NOTHING is the fault or problem of the President. You still haven't provided even a single example of Kelly "kissing Schumer's ass", and I don't recall you ever saying he kissed Sharpton's ass before. Is that new? Regardless, Kelly's a Democrat so of course he's going be nice to Democrats. I don't recall you acknowledging Republican politicians kissing Trump's ass, but of course that wouldn't be a problem for you - and wouldn't be Trump's problem.
