@hhlurker working class whites were dems. Spot on. Dems trading them for trannies and race baiting.  Conversely Trump brought the brilliant maga.  It touched on nostalgia when a working class dad could support a family on just his income and there were jobs that you didn’t have to be a finance bro or a computer geek to make a bunch of money. Crushed Dems with that.  Then crushed old pubs with the promise of no new wars.  Maga appealed to so many.  As it should.

now today we see the execution didn’t work as reflected in costs. Tariffs hurt small businesses and gas is as expensive as shit. That’s exactly what those old Dem voters turned maga did not want!   And now Iran.  Fail.

maga is a good thing. It’s a good party.  It will appeal to enough Americans to win elections. Trump himself blew it.  This is not what people voted for

This is what you and GOAT have been talking about…this is the biggest issue. Trump just dismisses the fact

Polymarket now has Talarico up in Texas 62-39.  On August 11, it was even money.

Trends.  They're horrible for MAGA.

Remember, the markets are reporting odds, not vote spread. 62/39 is still a very close election.

I acknowledged this race is close earlier in the thread.  His lead in the polls, as I mentioned previously, is single digits. I never suggested he was up by 23 points in any poll.

Polymarket odds reflect the probability of a candidate winning, not the exact margin or how close the final vote will be.

As of this evening, the market is currently priced at 65% for Talarico. That means traders believe there's a 65% chance Talarico will win. It doesn't mean that Talarico will win by 65% of the vote.

Are you taking polymarket serious for politics?

Only halfway done. Theoretically he could take it from 17% down to zero still.

And the ultimate irony will be after the Democrats take the house and the Senate that the next two years of abysmal failure will probably get blamed on the Democrats.

I’ve never in an adult lifetime of following and studying politics seen anything as disgusting as the Dem party.

I personally totally get where you’re coming from because I find revolting a lot of the things you find revolting.

My sister is a moderate liberal and doesn’t pay much attention to politics. probably typical of most Democrats. So I was thinking about my conversations with her for a little bit compared to what you’re talking about. She really doesn’t think about the extremes of the modern democrat platform the way you do.

Instead her view is let people live their lives. I mean in terms of social policy, not in terms of  Libertarian policy. And I think the majority of independence have similar views on that too. so you’re probably talking about 60% of the American people who socially don’t have this deep abiding fear of the liberal extreme such as abortion in the ninth month and such matters. That’s why people are more likely to vote for Democrats in this election I think.

Besides taking half of my money, people like your sis want to leave people alone 😉

@hhlurker if gov did nothing. We would all be better off.  They shut us down with Covid. They flooded us with cash spiking inflation.  They imposed tariffs. And they are in a long war.

think back to 2019. Costs. Everything between now and then is bc of gov.

always vote less taxes. Less gov.  They are not our friend.  On that Reagan was right

@snarlcakes look at the stats that Spartans posted. When something is that overwhelming you probably ought to revisit your beliefs

I agree on revisiting one's beliefs. He went against his base and started a war in Iran and ran up gas prices. The GOP should get crushed in the midterms.  However, the Democrats are still going to struggle to win the Senate (I don't think they will).  So, you need to ask yourself the same question.  My answer is he hasn't been anywhere near terrible and there is plenty of facts to back that up.

@snarlcakes he was elected to close the border and bring down costs.  He closed the border and then did what he wanted. The opposite of what he was elected to do.  Now we will bring the freaks and crazies back. This is on him. He is a failure.

Trump is in Texas and Oklahoma today.  Time and big money are being spent in deep red states, another troubling sign for MAGA.

Meanwhile, they seem to have given up on states like Georgia and North Carolina that as recently as six months ago were considered toss-ups.

Congrats, you're ghey.

It’s okay, snarls, it really is. As you’ve gotten older your standards have dropped. Not uncommon.

Some of us can maintain our standards. The rest suck it up.

It doesn't matter who wins then if you think Trump is a failure.

@snarlcakes of course it does. I don’t want Dem insanity.

anyway. It’s Thursday.  We’ve gotten through the tough part of the week.  I guess I’ll check out some baseball playoffs since the boring marathon of a season is over. I’m going to see how this PCA guy does now that the big games are on.
