Not only was it NOT a roast, but Kimmel clearly called it a FAKE roast. It was a skit in his monologue on his TV show.
"You can't make someone listen to reason if they aren't willing to think"-- Ray Bradbury, Fahrenheit 451
The last time a US television station had its license revoked was in 1969, when a Mississippi station lost its license for segregationist, racist programming.
This latest development (and it's clearly related primarily to Kimmel and his monologues that Trump doesn't like) is obviously important 1A stuff, and needs to be closely monitored.
Wherein Trump triples gown on being the gheyist President ever. The last time a US television station had its license revoked was in 1969, when a Mississippi station lost its license for segregationist, racist programming.

@shooter Your premise is flawed from the start. It wasn't a joke. Kimmel doesn't make jokes. It's pure malice. He knows what he was doing, particularly in light of his Kirk comments that gave rise to his suspension. Kimmel is every bit as awful as Trump is as tehy're cut from the same mold. Still doesn't deserve to be canceled or fired
Kimmel’s such an idiot—it was about her death….
Props to Ted Cruz, the National Association of Broadcasters, and Adam Carolla.
Cruz: "It's not the government's job to censor speech, and I do not believe the FCC should operate as the speech police."
NAB: "The FCC's broadcast license renewal process must be grounded in predictability, fairness and transparency, principles reflected in the license Congress established and later extended. The Media Bureau's nearly unprecedented request for one company to quickly reapply for all of its licenses - rather than utilize its traditional enforcement process - runs contrary to these principles and creates significant uncertainty for all broadcasters."
Carolla: Kimmel's remark was "a pretty typical roast joke. It's also a trope. Any younger, beautiful woman who's married to an older guy, especially if the guy's rumored to be sort of a douchey, you would make that joke at any roast."
The "douchey" sure can dish it out but he can't take anything. As for the First Lady, maybe Melania "Sweet Pea" Trump should be focusing more on her "Be Best" campaign, starting with the guy she's married to but separated from.

Kimmel crossed a line. Joking about the death of a loved one is not a good- natured or amusing insult one associates with a “roast”. Especially when said loved one had been a target for murder.
The whole point of roasts are to cross the line. They are not good natured.
In the roast of DJT, they called him a racist. In the roast of Tom Brady, they compared him to Hitler. Mike Tyson's appearance on a dais led to jokes about his rape conviction.
25+ years ago, Joe Rogan did a whole very x-rated version of the same joke in a stand up special, except with J. Howard Marshall and Anna Nicole Smith, involving deathbed rimjobs. Marshall was dead at the time. I believe "Kentucky Fried Hooker" was mentioned, quite unironically. I doubt his kids found it humorous.
First, you twisted Kimmels words to suit your agenda, and after that went over poorly, you switched to twisting the idea of what a roast is to suit your agenda.
Bullshit like this is why I hate it here.
