Mixed feelings on this one.
Kimmel knew what he was saying, and new what he was doing. And ABC is a business, first and foremost. If they were facing really difficult business ramifications, due to reaction to Kimmel's words and performance... they're well within their rights, I'm sure, to make the decision they did.
But to say I'm uncomfortable with Trump's influence on this, and the Colbert situations, would be an understatement.
People are being cancelled for revealing themselves to be abhorrent people.
When people show you who they are, believe them.

”That’s different,” says every MAGA on the board.

I think some of them know it’s BS hypocrisy. The more they defend, the more they reveal.
So the US AG is going to come after you for 'hate speech' and the FCC is going to threaten to shut you down if you host comedians that say mean things on your network.
Sounds about right for this horror show of an administration.

The left’s been trying to kill comedy for years. Quite a heel turn for the right to be revealed as an accessory.
Just a note, I purposely quoted Charlie Kirk on the sanctity of free speech (which I agree with him on), without attribution, so that the inevitable cries of "you're an idiot" would come out. Of course, with great irony, the criticism came immediately from MAGA fanboys, dbm in particular.
Just goes to show you that people frequently get blasted here not for what they say but based on a kneejerk reaction to whomever is making the post.

A MoHoosier?

@shooter some of us are more concerned with a person being murdered for what he said than a rich prick being fired by his private business owners for saying things no business should want their employees saying in a representative nature

Agree, am I certainly am in that boat. The Kirk murder was horrendous and, as I said, if Kimmel never has another show, then it is no great loss.
Those opinions have little to do, however, with the principle that any government agency cannot be allowed curtail the free speech rights of any person, be that person Charlie Kirk, Jimmy Kimmel, Tucker Carlson, or anyone else.
I may hate with every fiber of my being what you say, but I will also defend with every fiber of my being your right to say it, free from government-influenced retribution but (of course) not free of other consequences.

@shooter that’s great but you don’t have any of it right. This is a private entity with a broadcast license or whatever that is regulated. Public interest standard. If you want to say vile shit like Kimmel you can. But not under that license. Gov can’t stop you from saying it but in the public interest can revoke that license.
None of this new. Hell you’re old enough to remember Howard and his endless fights with the fcc. Clear channel ended up dumping Howard
if the affiliates want to challenge the fcc they certainly can. Or they can say this idiot wanting to say vile shit isn’t worth it. Business decision dump him
