@carramrod Where's snarl .... I'm sure he's gonna say bitcoins. 🤣
I'm probably the most conservative investor on here. I couldn't imagine being 100% all in on the fiat Ponzi scheme. Only 99% of them have failed, but I'm sure this time will be different. When the beautiful BBL bartender and all her comrades get in charge I'm sure they'll turn it all around.
One thing I will not be investing in is BITCOIN! Haven't you taken a big loss, on paper, for your bitcoin?
Healthcare is totally busted
I take all my care at University Hospital in Denver. I don’t think it’s totally busted at all. I receive great care and attention from the providers and have a lot of confidence in them. The problem is the supporting infrastructure which is heavy into AI. When you call, all you get is a bunch of AI voice prompts and when you finally talk to a real person, they are part of a pool somewhere, not connected to the person you are trying to reach. I can message any provider through a patient portal and generally get a response in a day. Non urgent appointments are several weeks out if not months. They really are super busy. I live only 10 minutes from the hospital, very convenient. But the patient load for specialized care comes from a several state area.
@co-hoosier experiences are unique. Everything we do is through Washington university. Great university. Great hospital. Elite. And we’ve been to the elite. Nationwide in Ohio. Mayo. We are IN the system. And that’s in part a product of how we presented. Repeated visits to the er at bjc Washington u. That’s how you get in. Try setting up an appointment with a specialist outside of that path good luck. Sope was representative of that. With the shit care he received. I told him. Stop trying to get appointments. Just fucking keep showing up at the ER. At wherever is best. Emory wherever. But don’t do the plan network etc bullshit clusterfuck. Pick the best hospital and present to the er and get admitted. Get in their system. Get the referrals while you are in there! Then deal with the rest
I do.I retired at 53 and my wife at 51. We both get a pension. Your comment about relationship change is something that has been on my mind lately (not mine...we're coming up on 45 years) because we're in the process of trying to determine how to protect our assets from any in-laws after we're gone. We only have one kid (daughter) and she and her husband seem to get along well but I know shit happens and we don't want to leave our assets to our daughter and then they get a divorce and he gets half of it. We want our assets to be distributed down our bloodline but don't know how to accomplish everything we want to accomplish.Due to my recent relationship change, I lost almost half my net worth. I was trending toward conservative but now moved a bit more aggressive.
If I had better foresight, I could have kept it all and got out of prison at retirement age.
And Berkshire is really more of an ETF than a stock. Now that I'm retired-retired (twice retired) I've gotten rid of all my individual stocks except Google and Berkshire-Hathaway

I've done pretty well on it. The important thing is you dollar cost average into it (or any investment). If you started buying Bitcoin at the 2021 top (high 60k) you're annualized return would be around 15-16%. Not great, but not bad either.
@joe_hoopsier mcmurtry has a brilliant series called the last picture show. I’m sure you know it. Anyway. The last book in the series is called Duane’s depressed. Read it. I think of me and you with it.
@npt @goat does estate planning. Schedule an appointment. Zoom
Trusts are your friend. There are ways to structure them so that the trustee can distribute assets to your daughter, and to any of her descendants, without flat out giving them to her en masse in such a way as to make them vulnerable to a potential divorce.
You need a better estate planner than me, though. I never dealt with people wealthy enough to need complicated trusts.
Edit: Also, it depends what state you live in. Make sure you get an experienced estate planning or elder law attorney from your state.
@npt Where are you located? I've got a guy in Indy that I can recommend if you're local.

I really wouldn't worry about investing. Our next President will be doing the investing for us after the wealth confiscation. She clearly knows what she's doing.
She should be doing better than that with her salary.
her statement is FOS
she must be using Ilan Omar's financial math

I heard on NPR the other day that rents in NYC average $6K/mo. Now I'm sure that's skewed by a lot of Manhattan luxury places, but still... If she's maintaining a residence there, that would explain where a lot of the money goes. That said, I doubt she shops at Goodwill or gets her hair done at Great Clips.

You mean Mamdani's policies aren't lowering rent?
