@hooky

It’s also a function of how long you have before assisted living or death.  Extremely conservative.  Might have to pull out big bucks on few days notice.

In the last 10 years + of my career, I counted my chickens and decided I had enough to last the rest of my life.  Almost all of it went into various forms of guaranteed contracts.  Before that trended toward indexes.  Also lived through the time when CD’s paid north of 12%.

I really wouldn't worry about investing.  Our next President will be doing the investing for us after the wealth confiscation.  She clearly knows what she's doing.

Sympathies.  Really, not kidding.  Keeping me vertical, seeing, hearing, and thinking is stupid expensive. Deep into 6 figures just this year.  Money comes from somewhere.   I pay very little out of pocket.

@bar-down FWIW, if I am right about AI, health care will be one of those things the elites give us all access to for free.

Due to my recent relationship change, I lost almost half my net worth. I was trending toward conservative but now moved a bit more aggressive.
If I had better foresight, I could have kept it all and got out of prison at retirement age.

Morally Flexible. Kinda.

I'm all for you being right on this. Healthcare is currently stupid/crazy expensive.

Thankfully there's a solution and it won't cost us a penny.  Will actually save us a $1T a year while providing amazing health care to everyone.  It's magic.

Yeah - 'relationship changes' really can throw you for a loop. It did for me.

Having said that, I was able to claw my way out of debt and build up a respectable savings.

I'm totally blaming my ex because I enjoyed some of the stuff that we wracked credit card debt up on too, but there was no indication we were ever going to be serious about paying that crap significantly down.

if only there were something I could have done before she filed…. Something!

@dbmhoosier yeah Bernie’s just talk. Sucked on the gov teat his whole life instead of working.

I have no idea if Medicare for all will work and neither does Bernie. Do I have to go to hood doctors.  What will my taxes be.  And it’s just a different payment source it doesn’t fix the inflated cost of an mei.  Or a surgery. And if it does are reimbursement rates going to be so shitty that only dumb people become doctors because it’s not worth it to make a $120k a year and these nerds wanted to get pussy so f it they’ll be hedge fund managers instead

She been in Congress since 2019. That's 7.5 yrs x $170,000/yr pre tax. She pays no health insurance premiums and has a pension. Travel is mostly paid for as well. That's at minimum about $850k earned post tax. She sure ain't living like no socialist.

For many years I was very aggressive, heavy into growth stocks. Then I realized that the very low fee market index stock funds I have do just as well, so I have upped my investments there by a lot. But still my investments are almost all in stocks, mostly via mutual funds but a few individual holdings and sector funds, so I'd say I'm moderately aggressive.
