People like to idealize some party of the center that is pragmatic and technocratic and only cares about solving problems for the American people.
Problem is that party will still be made up of people and subject to endure all the restrictions, temptations and foibles of the same electoral system. And it would have no identity, no principles other than “pragmatism”.
Would never work. Said party would suck just as bad as the others, maybe more. The U.L. had had what? Four Prime Ministers in four years?
Who’s the model? France? Dysfunctional. U.K.? Dysfunctional. Parliamentary systems SUCK! Even under the U.S. system you’d likely get even more gridlock than you see now. More omnibus cowardice with a third mouth at the trough.
