Excellent point. There are 2 problems. Many deny this sort of “deep state” activity. The first step is to recognize this problem. The second problem is freedom of speech.

Fauci has done enormous damage to the credibility of government in scientific matters that should be objective. While we expect misinformation and deception in politics and policy, we shouldn’t see it in science and objective reality.

The discussion of the scientists with Fauci about the "furin cleavage site" and the thought at the time that it might be unnatural /engineered was already known and has been discussed many times. The person raising the concern was the virologist Kristian Anderson, as mentioned in the Fauci diary.
Why did Anderson and others INITIALLY think that the furin cleavage site was odd and unnatural? The nearest known coronavirus, SARS1, doesn't have it. Its presence, though, raises infectivity.
What you are missing here, though, is what came next. The structural features of other natural coronaviruses besides SARS1, at the time, hadn't been looked at in any detail. Kristian Anderson's group then investigated them and found that indeed several other coronaviruses from bats and pangolins DO have the furin cleavage site, NATURALLY. Kristian published the results and admitted that he had been WRONG in his initial assessment that the presence of the furin cleavage site was evidence of it being an engineered virus. It is NOT.
That's how science works. You propose a hypothesis, test it experimentally, and sometimes you prove the initial hypothesis to be wrong. You then have a new hypothesis. That gets tested, and the cycle continues. The existence of the initial flawed hypothesis is not a "gotcha" proving that the hypothesis was correct.

@mommyshine5220 My golf game is wildly inconsistent. In the past two years I've shot 79 to 101 and every score in between. As Forrest Gump might say, my game is like a box of chocolates, and I never know what I'm going to get. I live on the 17th hole of a private course here, but I'm a member of the club and course next to it. It's very nice. In Tucson we have an Executive Course in the complex which I can play every day for no additional charge. It has four par fours on the front and the rest are par 3s. It's been great for my short game.
Not sure when I'll be back in Indiana except for Thanksgiving, but if a business trip pops up and I can make a stop in southern Indiana I'll let you know. I like to tack a few days on the beginning or the end of those trips. Looks like the next one will either be in DC or in Switzerland. Waiting for the contractor to let me know.
