@larsiu I think that is definitely the best we can hope for.  But I don’t think Dems care too much about entitlement abuse.  I think they care much more about increasing entitlements.

But yes I’d love what you propose.  Gov looking inward benefits much more than outward

Highly doubt that. Market usually likes two things. Divided govt and the removal of uncertainty.

Dems projected to be 250+ in the house. First time since 2008. Maybe, just maybe, pointless ME wars are finally going to be too radioactive to instigate.

The Iran War will go down as the single dumbest political blunder in American history. Jimmy Carter's off the hook.

El Sayed won because of the Iran War. He doesn’t win the primary without the war.

“Now Mike Rogers wants you to believe that somehow he was not 100 percent aligned with Donald Trump on the war in the first place”… that’s a winner. “Here’s the thing about war, you can’t unring that bell”…now talk is cheap but the quotes wrote themselves. Let’s see what they do

@arthur-dent so there is one big difference between 2018 and 2026... And that is Trump re-election mode vs Trump lame duck mode.

The Dems in 2018 were completely obsessed with getting Trump... And destroying his ability to be re-elected. Which I guess kinda worked, but not as well as they hoped, since the 2020 race was so close it gave oxygen to a Trump return.

What do they do now though? Not that much future political benefit to go hard after Trump.

Social media is coming up with good ones.

I just wish Mitch McConnell was alive to see this.

Trump got Texas regime change before Iran

About the Iran War, probably not much. I suppose any deal that gets done will need to be sniffed/consented by Congress (maybe??).

I think Marv said something about Trump wanting a legacy and maybe resolving some low hanging fruit over the next two years could help Republicans. But, Trump's a stone-cold moron sometimes and especially so when he loses. I assume he'll just be a complete ass.

Congrats DNC... I think one of the reasons why they flipped so many seats, was, for the most part, they ran fairly decent candidates.  There weren't a lot of "squad" types taking down Republican incumbents.  Obviously there were some.  But I don't think its much of a hot take to say the Democratic roster in Washington, collectively, shifted closer to the center yesterday.  It'll be interesting if that ends up meaning the leadership, the voice, the narrative, coming out of the party does the same?  Hope so!  Obviously I know some on here don't think that will happen.

So now, what are you going to do with this power and responsibility?  If the collective narrative begins with things like impeaching Trump, I might register as a Republican before the next election.  Solve some things that will actually help Americans before you pick up the torches and pitchforks.

Apparently, that is the trade. A little unfair to critique this post if you look at the futures at the time it was posted.

I agree with investigate him and bring people up and yell at them.  Throw chum to your voters, easy win.  I assume slow down data centers and AI as well.  The voters want it and bonus points if the economy or market tanks.  Blame it on Trump and set yourself up for 28. Occasionally mix in some bills that have little to no chance of passing, but your voters like and Trump will veto. B#tch about it.   I assume the goal is try to get to 60 and control all 3 branches in 28. Maybe pass health care for all.  Not to mention they'll probably control the SC at some point in the early 30s.   Democrats are set up for a very nice multiple decade run.

To be fair I think the market does perform worse with a Democrat Congress and GOP President. Compared to other splits.

Maybe we won’t see this happen again

But they need to play their cards correctly to make it happen…I think Trump wants an off-ramp.
