The amendment says exactly how the majority interpreted it. No making things up simply because they wanted it to say something else. There are few places in the Constitution as clear as the 14th. The writers knew how to write "domicile" and chose not to.

Believe me, under president AOC you will want a court interpreting it as it is.

But there is a very simple solution, if it is such a loss for "Americans" it should be quite easy to pass another amendment.

I didn’t argue the validity of the decision in any way, just its impact on Americans.  The court doesn’t rule on what’s best for America, they rule on the law.  This decision, whether correct or not, is to the benefit of the rest of the world, not the US.

How do you feel birthright citizenship benefits you & your fellow citizens?

We'd be a much lesser country without some immigration.  Birthright is fine as long as we run our borders competently.

"Over 46% of Fortune 500 companies were founded by immigrants or their children, according to a report by the American Immigration Council. Specifically, foreign-born individuals directly founded about 21.8% (109 companies), while the children of immigrants founded the remaining 24.4%."

Arguably the most preposterous ruling in the history of the court.

Birthright citizenship <> immigration & isn’t just about border enforcement.

Some immigration is good.

It has very little impact, one way or the other. When did your family arrive in America? In all probability they came in with birthright as that would cover 1776 through now. Until about 1920, Europeans just came in. No controls, they came and lived and could apply for citizenship but their children born here were American. We had limits on those from other continents who could do that starting about 1890. I am curious how that destroyed America?

Quick hot takes:

1. Obviously the correct decision, legally.

2. Thomas' dissent is a mess.

3. Alito's dissent is much more intriguing and well-done.

4. Gorsuch tries to thread a pretty fine needle in his little addendum, but he's still basing his opinion on the same strange obsession with domicile that Thomas is.

They were actually decent people who followed the laws, came here to truly make a better life for themselves, improve the country, and most importantly,  they assimilated.  Immigrants today do none of those things.  They are only here for the goody bags and would kill most of us if given the chance.

We also had a little over a 100M people 100 years ago.  Today we're approaching 350M.  But you don't care.  You will gladly cheer on the destruction of this country including your own destruction because Democrat.

That needle will become the next Roe. People thinking it will take an amendment are kidding themselves

It didn't destroy America because they put limits on immigration in 1924 and cut immigration by 80%.  They also started a border patrol to help curb illegal immigration.   They had common sense back then.  Unfortunately, too many voters today have fell for the propaganda that mass immigration is good and needed.
