I wouldn’t even classify myself as a fan of Charlie Kirk. Heard some of his stuff occasionally, always thought he was a bit annoying, pandering and kind of a Ben Shapiro rip off.
For whatever reason, this has hit me harder than any celebrity death or assassination I’ve ever lived through.
Maybe the gruesome video, or the fact that he was killed simply for speech. Haven’t really had a successful political assassination of someone of this magnitude in America for a long time.

Politics has become combat instead of cooperating. Trump got up from the floor after being shot and yelled fight. His opponents scream fight. Campaigns are about fighting the other side. Congress can’t stand together for a kid with cancer. We gotta fight. It wasn’t always this way.
@carramrod agree. It’s made me very angry. Hard to explain. I really appreciate what he was doing. Him personally I wasn’t much of a fan. Not sure why. Just not my type of guy. At all. That's right. The focus of gun violence should be on the harm to our youth.
In this case, one man's opinions are now silenced, but his children will bear the weight of his loss for all of their lives. That is the real tragedy. It sickens me what gun violence is doing to our children.
Kirk was gunned down by someone who didn't like his positions. In America, that is wrong. But Kirk himself was comfortable with it, which is surprising to me. Perhaps he was too focused on his belief in positive action to fear the worst. But I bet his children wont be. There is just too much trauma in America. It is being perpetuated by the gun lobbies and the politicians who are persuaded by them. It can change. It can change in a hurry. If Roe v. Wade can change, so can gun restrictions.

@spartans9312 No, I won’t do that at all. Trans people have zero impact on my life and doubtful they do yours either. Do you know any ? Have you spoken to any? I know three, all of whom are adults. One was a former student. Comes from a great family, and one of the most religious families I know. I’ll just let them be and not obsess about a tiny minority of the population.

As to the quote. There are 100’s if not 1000’s of hours of Kirk speaking. I’ve seen people pounce on this inartfull quote of him defending the 2nd amendment in the last day plus and it seems pretty cynical.
And the quote isn’t even that bad. Because no Western country has zero gun deaths every year. And the type of gun used to kill Kirk is obtainable in pretty much all European nations.
