Its rough. I, too, have been hit hard by this. Probably because I like watching debate, I’ve seen tons of Kirk clips. I don’t think he was as intelligent as Shapiro, and he tried to score too many cheap points, but he was doing something I think admirable: standing up in places that hated him, for the most part, and using his words and reasons to try to persuade.I wouldn’t even classify myself as a fan of Charlie Kirk. Heard some of his stuff occasionally, always thought he was a bit annoying, pandering and kind of a Ben Shapiro rip off.
For whatever reason, this has hit me harder than any celebrity death or assassination I’ve ever lived through.
Maybe the gruesome video, or the fact that he was killed simply for speech. Haven’t really had a successful political assassination of someone of this magnitude in America for a long time.
For whatever reason, just been extremely sad for the last 24+ hours as if it was someone I knew personally.
Going to try to not chew out, dehumanize and demean strangers on the forum over politics anymore, so trivial in the grand scheme of things and it contributes to the kind of environment that got Kirk killed.
Also, I think Kirk grew from self reflection. When he started, I think he was looking to upset people and make a splash so would say some more outrageous things. Over the last few years, though, the clips I saw (and maybe this was just better marketing) showed a more mature, empathetic debater.
Maybe he learned that that style actually endears you better to most of your audience, but I think, too, he really believed in Christianity and wanted to be a better Christian.

Who cares what johnny maga says? Maybe because a few minutes ago we didn't even have a name and then out of the blue it's announced he's in custody.

That's right. The focus of gun violence should be on the harm to our youth.
In this case, one man's opinions are now silenced, but his children will bear the weight of his loss for all of their lives. That is the real tragedy. It sickens me what gun violence is doing to our children.
Kirk was gunned down by someone who didn't like his positions. In America, that is wrong. But Kirk himself was comfortable with it, which is surprising to me. Perhaps he was too focused on his belief in positive action to fear the worst. But I bet his children wont be. There is just too much trauma in America. It is being perpetuated by the gun lobbies and the politicians who are persuaded by them. It can change. It can change in a hurry. If Roe v. Wade can change, so can gun restrictions.

Not a TDS sufferer but the less Trump tries to “comfort” us on this the better. Not his strong suit. He’d maybe start okay but by the end he’d be blaming Hilary and Obama.
He really is a big part of the problem.
