I saw two different experts on two different channels say this wasn't all that difficult of a shot. It required some skill, but not a ton. Someone with a rifle certification from the military could do it easily. I wouldn't know. My limited experience with high-powered rifles tells me I couldn't have done it. But maybe others with a minimum amount of serious training, sure.
But they also said that the main benefit of this kind of shooting is that you give yourself a chance to get away. With minimal security and a large crowd, the shooter, if he's willing to dump the gun, could easily blend in and be escorted out by emergency responders.
We don’t know enough yet to answer those questions. What gun? What position? What was his target (obviously it was Kirk but did he really hit where he was aiming)?
assuming he was either a couple inches high or low depending on head or center mass targeting.
The shooter may or may not be an expert marksman but it seems pretty clear they had a plan of action. One shot, no weapon recovered at the scene, no eyewitnesses of someone fleeing with a gun (that has been reported), clearly an efficient and quick escape. Reportedly the roof of the building he was on backed up to a parking lot.
Doesn’t seem like an amateur that woke up pissed and decided to go kill Charlie Kirk.
They really need to find the guy if only so more of the vitriol can be directed at the assassin and not the amorphous “left”. People are going to tear each other apart otherwise and the level of fear and distrust is going to go through the roof.

Seems obvious at this point that the shooter "escaped." So now it's less a manhunt and more an old-fashioned investigation hoping he made a mistake somewhere and left a clue.
And this mindset of yours is why I say you’re part of the problem. If our polity really is falling apart because the gap between the extremes is widening to the point of threatening the foundations themselves, then we can’t fix it by blaming the other side. We have to accept that the problem is bigger than just the opposition.
I don’t buy that a widening gap is the problem. The problem is more along the lines of how we treat others because of policy disagreements. Look at Charlie Kirk. He appeared on college campuses to speak. Campuses are the epicenter of disagreements. He took on all comers and interacted with them. He addressed deep issues that sharply divide us. He made his mark with words and speeches He didn’t lead protests. He didn’t speak ill of his opponents. He didn’t shout down others. He wasn’t mean. All of these things happen, and the left does it.

I don't know about that college, but colleges tend not to be covered in cameras. So one usual tool may be limited. Surely the shooter would have passed someone in a university building in a normal school day, but assuming they were acting normal, why would anyone remember them? This might be a tough case. Maybe not, maybe they made a mistake. But I fear a long search.
Are you still waiting?@co-hoosier Conveniently forget the Democrats, right? In fact the most recent murders were Dems. The kidnapping plot of Gretchen Whitner? Nancy Pelosi’s husbands violent attack, which was greeted by hilarity by many on the right wing, including Jr. , Gabby Giffords, the list of Dems that received the white powdery substance in the mail, d pipe bombs left at the DNC, Oops January 6. Yes, definitely just a Dem problem.
Do you have the guts to list the Dem related events now since you’re interested in both sides of these events? Go ahead, list as many (6) as you did for Pubs. Bet you won’t.
You can't be arguing that only the left speaks ill of their opponents or is "mean?"He didn’t speak ill of his opponents. He didn’t shout down others. He wasn’t mean. All of these things happen, and the left does it.
And there it is. You just can’t help yourself.
Why should I pull that punch?
Do you deny the left routinely engage in protests, shout-downs, name calling, throwing paint on artistic masterpieces, burning Teslas and scores of other angry political activities? That needs to stop. But they just can’t help themselves.
Charlie Kirk was a good example of the kind of conduct you advocate.
I have never heard of Charlie Kirk until today. I'm a bit surprised by that, but obviously I steer away from right wing outlets.
Gun violence tends to anger me as I see a number of easy solutions that are not being pursued.
It is difficult to remain steadfast in the rule of law during periods of temolt, but that is the right thing to do. Bipartisan laws that make gun violence less accessible is the obvious missing link between American violence and the peace that our democracy has strives for.
@tr32 I can’t tell if you’re 100 or a bot. You don’t need right wing outlets he’s well known everywhere. I’m for guns and not taking them away from hooky and other enthusiasts because we have lunatics. But slowly I’m coming around to your way of thinking. 52 shootings in one weekend in Chicago. School shooting today. Popular political figure shot down. We may just have too many insane people, irresponsible people, evil people, on and on to be able to have them. What is the tipping point
You can’t be arguing that only the left speaks ill of their opponents or is “mean?”
What leftist speaker was prevented from speaking on campus because of right wing protests.
I'm not a bot. Violence is ugly. It degrades society. There is revenge and yet, there really isn't because escalation simply creates more violence and higher stakes that culminate in destruction. Israel and Palestine is an obvious parallel of how life can go if we go off the rails as a nation.
I definitely would like to see some town hall type open discussions on gun violence to start to get more voices heard on how Americans want to live.
