What I'm saying is that our survival is tied to Earth more than most want to admit and our chances of surviving on another planet we didn't evolve to live on is vanishingly small. These ideas kill most science fiction and dreaming, I get it. Sometimes the truth sucks.
Our survival is currently tied to the Earth. But if we go back 100 years, virtually everyone would say that humans will never leave the Earth. You and I don't know what is possible. You are making claims that sound like you know it is impossible. I hear a lot of scientists and engineers discuss this and most aren't willing to go to what blanket statement. At the time Kennedy said we would go to the moon, it was impossible for us to do.
Look at AGW, the problem isn't that people believe Mars is a spare planet we can move to. They believe that they shouldn't have to sacrifice anything to save the Earth from AGW. Or they believe God won't let AGW destroy humans. Or they believe it is a hoax. I never hear someone say that we need to keep pumping CO2 into the air because we can all move to Mars.

I've heard several news reports over the weekend saying it's the first time we've have pictures of the dark side of the moon and this is the farthest humans have ever gone into space. I guess the latter is correct since man hasn't gone beyond the moon and their orbit is farther away from the moon than the Apollo missions, but the former makes me laugh.
My 14 year old niece was amazed to learn yesterday that man has already orbited the moon hundreds of times. She's also been told that this is the first time we've orbited to get pics of the dark side of the moon.

It is semantics. Several Apollos went around the moon but all at a very low altitude. So they saw part of the dark side. The were too close to see the entire dark side. Artemis will see the entire dark side.
I think there are specific regions on the back side that are of interest for mining purposes or for water deposits, areas that we don't have much hi-def satellite imagery for, at this point.
