Plenty of people I went to law school with hit home runs. Plenty.@larsiu @bradstevens i wasn't aware of what lars wrote re other industries brad. i'm a big time gambler and not risk averse at all. that's why law appealed to me. not hourly shit. hitting a home run. but i think "we" were just slightly out of the sweet spot and it was the gen just twenty years older that got fat and we missed the gravy train
Although, I just had a very good friend try to off himself who is making over $500k. So money isn't everything.
@bradstevens I know. My ex gf just pulled a two mil fee last month. Has a house in the mountains outer banks and a mansion in palm beach. Lots of skill and lots of good fortune
@bradstevens honestly i think you're wrong. i think you don't know bc of law. and no offense. but over the last ten years i've been shocked at how much other shit pays. stupid shit. shit you only need a bachelors from a directional school. a couple can make $200k by 30 with pretty damn average careers. hell boa minimum wage is now $25. for a teller. compared to so many other fields law is a pretty bad deal financially unless you're in big law or hit some homeruns. hell nurses can make $150k with a two year degree
No, Brad is right. You're thinking of your own experience taking advantage of slave labor overseas to make money, but you only were able to do that with the money you earned from practicing law. Most people don't have those opportunities. If they did have those opportunities, they wouldn't really be that great. That's the ugly truth of capitalism, it has winners and losers. And it might have a whole lot more winners than socialism, but you can't have winners without losers. It just doesn't work. No one wins the Super Bowl by beating nobody. Another team has to lose. If you're going to get rich, someone else had to not get rich to make it possible. That's just how the zero-sum game works.
Could you read just one damn book on how actual economics works so you understand why saying "the ugly truth of capitalism is there are winners and losers" is beyond stupid. Get on f#cking amazon.com and order the Bitcoin Standard. Not another word until you do it.
Stop worrying about that and try to figure out why we're having all this inflation.@bradstevens honestly i think you're wrong. i think you don't know bc of law. and no offense. but over the last ten years i've been shocked at how much other shit pays. stupid shit. shit you only need a bachelors from a directional school. a couple can make $200k by 30 with pretty damn average careers. hell boa minimum wage is now $25. for a teller. compared to so many other fields law is a pretty bad deal financially unless you're in big law or hit some homeruns. hell nurses can make $150k with a two year degree

I'm not taking economics advice from someone who thinks the thing I'm missing is a better understanding of bitcoin.
@snarlcakes it’s not just the tariffs. It’s the uncertainty the tariffs have wedged into the futures markets. Supply chains set prices for tomorrow. Not today.

That's an argument for why they're anti-growth (which I agree with) and deflationary. @mcm666 don't you like Lars posts on tariffs😤
kids today work harder than ever...at schooling. They are doing school work and school activities 24/7. They didn't create that system/culture. It was forced upon them. Is it any wonder they come out of college expecting faster gratification? WE stopped asking for sweat equity.nobody wants to wait 10-15 years putting in the effort. Now now now. And they’ll job hop like crazy. First job that offers more they leave. Those enterprise reg mgrs have done every job in the org outside or HR on the way up.@mrhighlife enterprise regional managers make up to a mil year all over the Midwest. And if you’re living in the middle of nowhere Indiana cost of living is cheap. People don’t want to work. Advance. On and on.
Also, you used to be able to get a job out of college that paid the bills, including a mortgage. If you didn't go to college their were factory jobs that did the same. The entry level jobs paid the bills. So of course you got comfy where you were at. No need to leave. That is evaporating and non existent anymore. Is it any wonder why the younger people job hop like they do?
It's amusing that people that paid a fraction of the cost for college, a fraction of the cost for a house and car, a fraction of the cost for pretty much everything else compared to current costs..think all people need to do is pull up their bootstraps and make sure they are living in a cheaper area of the country and they are good to go....else they are a dumb loser.
My parents first house cost less than $30k. Cost of college was less than $500 per year (no wonder people were able to pay for college with a summer job - literally impossible now). Cost of a car was less than $4000.
You think wages for the average person has kept up with inflation? Hardly, but some just think people can get a job and they can live the American dream without handouts.
Minimum wage in 1970 was $1.60. Adjusted for inflation, that is about $11.53 per hour. Current minimum wage is $7.25/hr. The only people making more now in spending power are CEO's and upper management types. The people that the GOP thinks need tax breaks...which is so much more important than handouts.
Now…tell us why those things have increased in cost
@goat its actually a really good economics book. It doesn't really discuss Bitcoin until the second half the book. It would help you a lot if you took the time to read it.
@hurryinghoosiers read other posts in the thread. And the entire country isn’t Indiana
Yes, and some of the country pays less than Indiana.
Typical middle class jobs were factory jobs for a long time. Most factory workers aren't making close to what their ancestors were 50 years ago. If everyone making less than 150,000 went out and went to work for Enterprise, how many cars have to be rented?
@arthur-dent enterprise is simply an example. substitute lars' call center at $125k in 5 years. there are countless opportunities for people who grind
@mcm666 the average wage as a percentage of GDP is lower today than it was 30 or 40 years ago. The reasons for it are outsourcing, immigration, and the money. Everything Hickory and liberals are for.

So are you going to invite us to your house to prove everything is made in America. There were serious attempts to make "made in America" a purchasing decision, it didn't work. People voted with their wallets. I bet many of the biggest MAGA backers today bought foreign back then.
I am certain Reagan and Bush were free trade.
