@evanalvarez8 I think part of this is the Lamine Yamal effect.  He’s gotten the world excited about young talent, question is can the rest of new players live up to the hype.

I’m extremely excited for our first Champions League games this week.  Hoping to catch some Chelsea/Bayern, Juventus/Dortmund, PSG/Atalanta, and of course my team Barcelona vs Newcastle.

I’d like to see a Barcelona vs Liverpool final.

If you’re a fan of T.J. McConnell you should give this episode a listen.  He and Larry Nance have ownership in Leeds.  Seems like a good dude.

@eppy99 are you a Barcelona fan? Not sure if I knew that specifically. Such a fun team, I love Raphina. Today's game will be awesome

@evanalvarez8 Barcelona is currently my favorite team.  Much of that has to do with Lamine Yamal.  I find their brand of football the most exciting to watch in Europe right now.  While I’ve always been a soccer fan, I sorta put my fandom to the side while my kids were growing up.  So many weekends entertaining and traveling for team sports.  Now that 2 out of 3 of my kids are of college are have a started returning to football. Also my enjoyment of card collecting has drawn me to watch certain players and look for new prospects to collect.

As for the EPL my fandom can still be bought.  I sorta became s fan of ManU because of my brother, but I don’t find their brand pleasing and not impressed with their effort.  I’m not supposed to like Liverpool as a fan of ManU but I really enjoy their style of play.  I think I may just be a bandwagon fan.  I like to root for the recently promoted teams.  After listening to the recent podcast with TJ McConnell I may check out Leeds.  For some reason I like watching Dortmund.  I don’t love anyone in Italy.  I’ve never been a fan of PSG but now that Mbappe is gone and they have two exciting forwards in Doue and Dembele I really like the talent they’ve assembled.

in general I just like watching exciting teams and good games.  I guess it prevents me from having to love a losing team.

@eppy99 that makes sense! Hey, nothing wrong with watching exciting football. It really is DIFFERENT tuning into a PSG or Barca or Liverpool game. It’s entirely different from lower talent teams/leagues/MLS/etc. It’s like a whole new sport and really highlights why people call soccer “beautiful”, because those teams really make it so

We’ve got crickets in here.  What happened after such a promising start to this room?

Has anyone watched Chelsea’s new wonderkid Estevao?  This 18 year played in Brazil for Palmeiras and finally made it to Europe once he turned 18.  He’s now starting for Brazil’s senior team as well.  The kid is only 137 lbs and super quick with a great touch.  He’s a fantastic dribbler and creates for himself and teammates.  I’m not going to say he’ll be as good as Lamine Yamal, but I’ll just say he’s one of those players that everytime he touches the ball you’re excited to see what happens.  If you haven’t seen it his late goal against Liverpool was his 1st EPL goal.  I personally think the World Cup will be his coming out party to those that don’t watch the EPL.  Here’s a little compilation video of his touches with the ball.  Not all were successful but you’ll see his potential.

Here is Chelsea’s great team goal that led to Estevao’s finish.  I think the entire team touched the ball.

The prem is quite interesting this year. I thought for sure Liverpool would run away with the title. It's early of course, but still surprising

@jdb @larsiu @gros-louis @goat @mcm666 @thehoosierhuddle @evanalvarez8 I feel abandoned.  I'm playing with legos all by myself and it's a lot more fun with friends.  Are you guys not watching soccer?  Lots of great games going on, storylines and goals to link.  We've got the world cup coming up.  Get your shit together.

@eppy99 ha!  I watched real Liverpool yesterday but this is the least I’ve watched in my entire life. Part of it is with iu I’ve watched a ton of cfb. Even game day in the morning instead of the epl.  I’ve watched all of inter Miami’s games. The end of jordi alba and Busquets. Two guys who were as good as anyone ever at their positions. Messi continues to be Messi only in slow motion lol
