@iugradman I'm not going to base his progress off tournament results, because he could get the team playing better with good results and still get upset for a variety of reasons. If we compete like a good solid tournament team and are tough to play, finish top 4 in conference and pull a couple upsets during the season, and get say a 6 seed or better, I'd see that as progress, even if we were upset in the tournament. Of course I'd not like it, and feel like they are building a roster that should be top 25 and S16 type team, but to me he could show improvement and enough success that not making a S16 wouldn't signal no hope.
To me its not really about the tourney its how he does in the big ten with what was clearly top three big ten money. So yes 11-9 wont impress me i am expecting 13-7 or 14-6 given the money spent.
So now Del Jones and Rowan Brunbaugh are off the market... who's next for us ?
I'm jonesing fpr a new commit! Got the shakes!
If no new commits by tomorrow get rid of Carr and bring in Brad Stevens. I hear he's interested.

@hoosiers94 I've disconnected a little bit after the initial flurry of signings. Any news or info on Bud Clark? I thought I had heard he was visiting. Seemed like a long shot once we got that initial slug of guards, but with his connections to the staff..???

He committed to Seton Hall. Looks iike we may not get a true pg back-up. Garland is still out there but I don't know if we (or he) have any interest. From our point of view, perhaps his 6'0" size is not ideal, as otherwise his #s look pretty darn good. From his point of view, pt may be an issue.

There's still appx 1800 uncommitted players in the portal with a day left to enter. Plus players from euro clubs.
This recruiting period lasts well into the summer months. If IU feels they need a backup PG, it shouldn't be too hard to find one.
And you have to be a misogynist.Bitch and moan, bitch and moan. You have to be a woman.
Dusty May is not coming through that door. Dusty May was never coming through the IU door. You have to let that go. There are no more Dusty Mays out there. Just hope DD can get things going at some reasonable pace. That is probably the best IU can hope for at this point. In any case, no one on here has any say whatsoever in when “he needs to go.”@iugradman I'm not going to base his progress off tournament results, because he could get the team playing better with good results and still get upset for a variety of reasons. I am comparing DeVries to Dusty and expecting comparable success. If Doorknob can’t lead this team to postseason wins then he needs to go.
I can let Dusty go. I can't let QB and Woodson go. They ruined their legacies. I firmly believe Dusty would be at Indiana if Dolson would've been allowed to do his job. I think this roster is good (so far). If the whole is better, the sweet 16 or better could happen. We'll see how it comes together.
@auburnhoosier I think its a difficult thing to know, definitively. On May, I believe that Dolson did relatively seriously approach May, during the end and/or immediately after Woodson's year 3. And that had May expressed positive interest, Dolson would have "been allowed" to move on Woodson. But, as has been reported by many, including some that I do believe and trust, May said no. Reportedly, one of the main reasons was how close he and his wife's families are to Bloomington, and a fear that it would have been too big of a disruption on their lives.
Now... I also believe very strongly that if Dolson had just been allowed to can Woodson at the end of that season, then the Dusty May courtship certainly could have went very differently. It was probably very easy for May to turn down what was, at the time, a hypothetical job offer. And to use the excuses its reported that he did. Completely different calculus involved if the job is open, if Dolson is backing the Brinks truck up, and if he's allowed the opportunity to come up with ways to solve objections, like the family issue.
I think as soon as May rebuffed, then Buckner probably took over, and said, lets see what Woodson can do with full use of the war chest.
I hope that Buckner is never allowed in the room for any consequential decisions regarding IU athletics, ever again. The whole Woodson thing was such a poor decision. And Buckner either knew that, deep down, and helped make it happen anyways for his buddy. Or, he didn't really know it, and his judgement was so bad, it can't be trusted any more. Either way... hopefully we've moved past the RMK Cronies having any undue influence.
He would not be.I firmly believe Dusty would be at Indiana if Dolson would've been allowed to do his job.
It has been my understanding that if Woodson had voluntarily stepped down as coach, Dusty would have taken the job. Dolson had offered Woodson a nice payoff if he agreed, but he said no. Dusty was not going to take the job if he was fired. He didn't want to be a reason why another IU alumnus got fired. I heard this during Woodson's third season and before Dusty took the Michigan job. It had nothing to do with where his family lives, etc. It was about showing respect to another alumnus.
Woodson was never stepping down voluntarily. So either way, May was never coming.
The reasons Dusty May wouldn't take the job keep rolling in and changing over time. This one sounds plausible. Thx. Much more so than 'toxic fan base - worried for his family' excuse. lol.
Good to know Dolson at least was interested in Coach May.
But Dusty May didn't sign them so they must all be DII level....

Sorry for the sarc. Playing around. I am hoping each time I come back here to check there might be another good signing. Patience grasshopper, I'll tell myself.
