@mushroomgod I smell a rat... hopefully the recruitment is resolved soon, one way or another. Last year, a couple of the recruitments seemed to end pretty abruptly when it seemed like guys were pushing for bigger bags... (Conwell comes to mind). Maybe the lack of commitment isn't totally one way, at this point?
The latest from the BTB boys is still hopeful. Hopefully, we're panicking for nothing. I think he's finishing his visit this morning/early afteroon.
@arioznahoosier4554 Either its a done deal, or it isn't. If there's any truth to him waiting past this visit to see if anyone else will "up the offer", or even match it, as Trilly said... its hard not to have thoughts about not wanting someone with that type of mentality. It sure sounds like IU dropped a massive bag on him, enough for him to cancel the MSU visit. If what we've dropped, and shown him, thus far isn't enough... then maybe he isn't a great fit?
As much as we desperately need someone like him. One thing that could be getting lost in all this are things like chemistry, and fit. Its o.k. to want both elite talent and great fits chemistry wise. Maybe its not realistic, at this point, though. And obviously maybe it wouldn't be an issue once Sherrell gets whatever he's needing to pull the trigger.
No matter how great a player he if the only reason he comes is due to the bag of cash that does not always work out so great chemistry wise. I know DD needs to win and win now but so did woodson and they threw bags of cash at anyone and could still not make the tourney. Woodson literally had like three top 25 portal guys and three mcdonalds all americans on that team and still missed the tourney. I don't care how bad a coach you are no way you should miss the tourney will that much talent. But I think many were here for the wrong reasons.
But I highly doubt Duke will give him what IU is so I suspect the bag of cash will get him here.

Not sure if it was mentioned on here, but he did cancel the MSU visit.....I'm hoping he's waiting until his visit concludes.

I cannot keep up with those guys one minute they are in panic mode the next minute we are going to the final four. I love basketball but man those guys are on another level they are what you call obsessed. They must live and die IU basketball.

We should cut our offer now that he's canceled MSU. Then relent and honor it if he signs NOW.
Sebastian Rancik is visiting on Thursday. This was rumored last night and Jeff Rabjohns (and I think On3's Alec Lasley) reports it will be Thursday. He has two years remaining and made a nice jump from his freshman to sophomore season. I think he fits best as a 4 that can give you minutes in a very big lineup as a 3. He's mobile, a good passer, a very good defensive rebounder, does a nice job getting fouled and is a GREAT foul shooter and is capable from 3 (33% on 118 attempts). If he ups that to 35-36% on similar volume, you have a darn good player on your hands.
It looks like Florida State and BYU are both getting visits as well.

I mean a take it of leave it deal? I mean that would make sense.
@ams66 play stupid games, win stupid prizes? Why? Do we have any other guys at his level and position, lined up and ready to commit? Cracks me up when posters say stuff like this. What if this was you, or your kid? Wouldn't you expect a school to give you reasonable time to weigh such important decisions, and what would you think of a school that didn't?
You may have been kidding, but I say give them time to make up their minds. If it was my kid, I'd be advising to consider multiple options and pick the one that is/feels best. And, I'd tell him to axe any program that tried to pressure him and not give him reasonable time.
@ams66 Obviously we really don't know what's being said and done between he and IU. But the Trilly comment was the one that got me the most. IF, big fat IF, Sherrell is waiting because he wants to see if someone will merely match the offer... that basically implies he isn't really overly excited about playing at IU. And IF that's even close to true... yes, I cut the offer and move on, if I'm CDD. And send out a note to agents and players, somehow, saying something to the effect of "IU basketball has A LOT of available money. IU basketball also offers incredible facilities, a huge and great fan base, and a staff that will invest in the players development, their experiences, and their futures. Any players that are not excited about all the great things IU basketball has to offer, other than the money, move on and consider other schools. We'll give our very large amounts of money to players that are, or will be."
@kkott For certain... but IF... Trillys comment about him waiting because he wants to see if there will be others that will match the offer, and he's open about that... You gotta move on... or at a minimum make sure he knows the offer is final and won't get better.

Works both ways. If he's playing games with trying to get other programs to outbid us, then put a little fear into him that our offer is suibject to change until he accepts it.
You need to have a bit of a used car dealer attitude sometimes.
If you get a chance do a YouTube search and check out the highlights on Sebastian Rancik. I know no more about him than I watched on the brief video but he has some skills. Handles the ball very well for a 6'11" player and runs the court. Is he a starter? Probably not but Indiana could use 3 bigs. I don't understand the shooting (86% FTs, 33.1% on 3's & a 40.4 overall FG%). DeVries and staff must be fairly serious about Rancik as they are bringing him to campus later this week for a visit. So far the track record of DeVries indicates a visit equals an offer.@iunorth Sebastian Rancik who completed his soph season at Colorado is to visit Bloomington. 6'11' Slovakian who averaged 12.3 ppg and 5.6 reb.
His #s are ok...Sports Ref listed him as 6'9" 210 lbs, which may have been his size 2 years ago....28M/game last year, shot some 3s (33%) & 86% on FTs. Not much of a rebounder. Not listed in 247 rankings.
Riley Allenspach, a 7'1" big previously mentioned on here, committed to Cincy.
Rancik is at 107 in the ON3 rankings
At 5.6 rpg he would have been Indiana's leading rebounder last year. LOL

I think alot of us said before the portal opened IU would most certainly have to outbid other winning programs to get any higher ranked players. The fact of the matter is we do not have much to sell right now two ncaa berths in ten years. I certainly agree a guy coming just for the bag of money is not the greatest situation given he may not really be all that jazzed about IU itself. But DD pretty much needs to win next year so he is in a tough spot especially given he only returned one player.
I checked out his 2025-26 Colorado highlights and was impressed by his ball handling.Sebastian Rancik is visiting on Thursday.
