This seems like a decent place to put this... Just an attempt to organize some thoughts on our potential main rotation, as we sign guys, and keep an updated list of needs.

Starting 5

PG - Burton

G/W - Mustaf

G/W - Harris

G/W - Moody

F/B - Sisley

Rotation Players

G/W - Karvala

G/W - Manhertz

Needs

Obviously Sherrell first and foremost.  He slides in to the Forward/Big starting spot, and Sisley probably starts alongside him, pushing Moody to the bench.  That starting 5 is pretty solid, at that point.  A good PG, and a good big.  And 3 solid wing/forwards.

Our biggest remaining need, would be more size and length.  I'd like to see at least 2, if not 3, more guys that are able to guard, rebound, score, etc... in the B10, at the 4 and 5 positions. Reibe is a natural fit for this need.  Also any good Euro player we might get in on.

After that, firepower on the perimeter.  Any mentions with IU and either of the Mingo brothers?  I know both will command a lot of attention, and money.  And selling either of them, and Burton, to play alongside one another, would be a challenge.  But man, a two lead guard lineup of Burton and the PSU Mingo... it could be incredible?!  Pipe dream on that, I'm sure.  So Jake Hall makes a lot of sense for this spot, as a more realistic option.  I have a feeling Moody is going to be the freshman that forces his way in to the main rotation, so he could make this much less of a need.

A steady, solid, pass first, true backup PG would be nice as well.  Would Clark accept that role?

Sherrell... then Reibe, Hall, high end foreign wing and/or big, High end guard like one of the Mingos... that's the remaining wishlist.

One of the big guys the Hoosiers are checking out is Bryson Tiller. 6'11" 240# highly recruited out of high school. Finished his freshman season at Kansas third on the team in rebounds (6.1) behind Tre White and Flory Bidunga. If Sherrell signs, I think IU needs 2 more bigs.

@bigmike Definitely agree on that.  Tiller would be a great pickup, to play alongside Sherrell.  As would one of the higher caliber Euros that have been mentioned.  One of the cool things, so far, is the potential for this next roster to be a "2 year" roster.  Every single player we have in the fold, thus far, could come back for the 27-28 season.  Burton, I think, needs a waiver, but it seems like most think he'll get it.  Obviously we won't return all of them, but even if half the good ones stick around, that's an added benefit to the guys he's getting, and seemingly targeting.

Now... they have to develop, buy in, play well, etc... But unlike the first roster CDD had, it appears as if many of the main rotation guys will have the option of coming back.

@iunorth Sebastian Rancik who completed his soph season at Colorado is to visit Bloomington. 6'11' Slovakian who averaged 12.3 ppg and 5.6 reb.

@bigmike Interesting!  If choosing, I think I'd rather have Tiller.  This guy may be a little more redundant to what an improved Sisley could provide.  But looks to be pretty solid stretch 4 type of player.  But if he can bang and rebound with B10 guys, bring him on!  Just box score watching, it appears his rebounding and shooting percentages dipped a fair bit against the better, more physical, teams in the B12.

Ideally, we'll find and get a physical, rim protecting 5, to allow for Sherrell to not have to anchor that position.  Reibe keeps coming to mind.  But if we can get one of those AND a guy like this one... that'd be incredible.

His #s are ok...Sports Ref listed him as 6'9" 210 lbs, which may have been his size 2 years ago....28M/game last year, shot some 3s (33%) & 86% on FTs.  Not much of a rebounder.  Not listed in 247 rankings.

Riley Allenspach, a 7'1" big previously mentioned on here, committed to Cincy.

IF Iu does indeed get sherrell it clearly took a massive bag of cash and there is no way we only have 14 milllion. The four guys alone so far probably cost 11 million. Somebody must have decided to give DD a woodson bag size of cash.

Sherrill and Burton are a good combo but going to need more than just two studs to compete with the likes of Michigan and Illinois. You really probably need like four stud starters.

Looks like the very  manic btown banners guys are all over the place again but rabby came in to save the day and calm their nerves. He can always calm them down when they start to lose it.  Rabjohns to the rescue!!!! LOL!

Sounds like he won't be committing today.  Potentially waiting a few days to see if anyone else will up the bag?

Don't like that at all.  After all the hype last night this seems like a huge let down.

Rabby just said barring a change at the 11th hour he expects Sherrell to be a Hoosier

Trilly update: Sherrell officially communicated with MSU that he's not making the visit. "Trying to figure out if anyone else is going to try to match IU's offer but it seems unlikely at this point."

@redandrowdy

agree. I'd also like to see that long lanky athletic wing.  That is a good shooter. Maybe not elite.

We are close. Not there yet, but close. All in all, I will take it.

@arioznahoosier4554 Either its a done deal, or it isn't.  If there's any truth to him waiting past this visit to see if anyone else will "up the offer", or even match it, as Trilly said... its hard not to have thoughts about not wanting someone with that type of mentality.  It sure sounds like IU dropped a massive bag on him, enough for him to cancel the MSU visit.  If what we've dropped, and shown him, thus far isn't enough... then maybe he isn't a great fit?

As much as we desperately need someone like him.  One thing that could be getting lost in all this are things like chemistry, and fit.  Its o.k. to want both elite talent and great fits chemistry wise.  Maybe its not realistic, at this point, though.  And obviously maybe it wouldn't be an issue once Sherrell gets whatever he's needing to pull the trigger.

Watched some highlights of Rancik......it's funny, but he really is an improved Reed Bailey.  I think I saw him make more contested 2s in his highlights than RB did all year.  Much more physical than RB but, statistically, still not a big-time rebounder.  If we screwed by Sherrell but somehow got Reibe, he'd fit well with Reibe.  He's definitely not the shot blocking 5 that Sherrell wants.

Watching some more highlights.......the guy grows on you for sure.  Don't think he's 6'11"...maybe 6'10"....maybe 6'9".  Hell of a ball-handler and certainly a willing 3 point shooter.  In 28/M per game took over 4 3 pts attempts (often trailing the play) v. 1 attempt per game from RB at Davidson.  Much more willing to mix it up than RB.

He made a post, maybe a week ago, which he almost immediately took down, talking about the $$ people said he was being offered......was a trash talking post.....did not put him in a good light.

Is it too late to up the bag just a smidge to outbid Tennessee for Dalton Knecht?

Talk about a program trajectory changing moment and recruitment.

@mushroomgod I smell a rat... hopefully the recruitment is resolved soon, one way or another.  Last year, a couple of the recruitments seemed to end pretty abruptly when it seemed like guys were pushing for bigger bags... (Conwell comes to mind).  Maybe the lack of commitment isn't totally one way, at this point?
