So it looks like they will get three guards. Harris averaged 3 points a game so I probably would not expect too much from him. They need bigs in the worst way though.
Is he being supposed to a starter or a sub? I see he is ranked # 102 in the portal and averaged 10 points a game. Other than that I no nothing about him.
Portal rankings are a joke.
Physical guard, long arms, fairly athletic, looks big ten tackle ball ready and could be a good defender if willing. Played both guard spots at G'tech, so he could backup the 1 if needed. Not a volume 3pt shooter but decent percentage. Gets to the hoop off the dribble fairly well and plays through contact. Decent assist numbers for an off guard, not good enough to be a PG. Needs to work on his overall shooting mechanics, seems to twist sideways a bit on release. Not a lead guard currently more a complementary player but has enough tools that a future breakout is possible.
It's not a great pickup but a good one as it addresses IU's needs for more athleticism and physicality in the backcourt. Former McD all-american.
Grade: C+

More excited about the Duke guy. Mustaf isn’t that great and has proved it. Maybe. He makes a big jump but I doubt it. Harris now…. He could pop. Really like that get.
Harris looks like a catch and shoot guy. Because his handle and athleticism looks good, but he's not really quick.
We need some of these guys to blossom. This one is 'potential over production' but he has some tools.
I think two guys modest upgrades over guys like Dorn, as far as athleticism. No Wilkerson scoring yet! lol Years remaining is what I want to see though, I like that part.

From a post on Harris on February 24 on this thread: -Darren Harris - Duke - Sophomore (2 years left) - 6'5" wing and known as a sharpshooter. He's had limited playing time with Duke in two seasons. Of note, he played for Team Takeover and is a Virginia native so there is a Kenny Johnson connection.
Kenny Johnson has been on this one for a long while. He clearly believes in Harris and I'm sure he's satisfied with securing the commitment.

hard to fault a top 40 kid out of high school who played behind the soon to be rookie of the year kon kneuppel in '24 and guys like dame sarr and caleb foster this year.
i'm very excited about harris. very good shooter in high school but if you watch the second highlight...he can get up.
@arioznahoosier4554 I am confident Indiana is doing everything possible to land Aiden Sherrell...including aggressively bidding and being his top $ option. That might not end up being enough but they are swinging hard for him.

He seems to be the only high ranked big we are involved with right now so they have to swing as hard as they can. Maybe it takes 6 million who knows.
@tjinman1987 that’s IUs main problem now. Guys could take less to go to wining schools. Got to throw the kitchen sink at him, and I’m guessing we will. Can’t have another reed bailey Conor enright situation.

I am pretty sure we will offer the biggest bag of dough to Sherrell of anyone its our only selling point. He can take less to go to a winning program of take the bag of cash to come here. That is pretty much what it comes down too and he can probably name his price if IU wants him bad enough.

Need to see Mustaf in our system. Doubt he's a go to guy but instead fits a needed role. Need guys that can get downhill off the dribble to counter all the switch everything other teams used to contain and disrupt the spacing/screen/cut stuff and the 3 pt shooting. That seems to be his best attribute along with his physicality. Surely not all conference level or anything currently but he has some tools ..
Harris fits because with Mustaf and possibly Burton, IU needed a knock down volume shooter. That's the key point on his resume. He didn't play enough minutes at Duke to make any solid assessments based on stats. Some guys don't play well cold and need a good sweat to get into rhythm.
Seems a bit slow, not very athletic but has really nice mechanics on his shot with a quick release and seems able to get off good looks even when the ball is not passed into the pocket and/or with someone in his face.
