Im on the fence whether Coach has the recruiting chops though or not. He might. Coupled with Carr maybe they will close the deal on a few top guys. Fill the rest with castoffs.
If it was me, Id still be trying to pay up for the youngest guys, talented freshman or even paying more for HS players and willingly paying up big to get them to agree to multiyear deals. Take a chance. More variance but a chance to afford higher end talent. Cant see us getting good with pure mercenaries. We need more billionaires for that.

Others are saying similar things. Sounds like we're getting out bid for the impact players. We either don't want to pay their asking price or we don't have it.
Got to wait and see how the portal rebuild works out.

we’ve been working on getting over the hump for several decades. Some of these “insiders” that projected strong ties to a number of prominent players are already lowering expectations. A number of these guys have no more inside knowledge than the average poster on this board.Got to wait and see how the portal rebuild works out.

@dbmhoosier 😂😂😂. Nobody but pundits and social media hacks say this. We have no idea either. Who’s to say that’s just a starting number? Who’s to say that a donor would step up to get a guy if we are close?
@d-b-cooper Agreed and why would IU tip their hand to what kind of money they have to agents? I am not saying the numbers they are asking for are way off or what teams will need is way off, but I would be skeptical of what people put out as Team A, B, C's "budget". If you say we can spend up to X amount of dollars, you're gonna get charged "X" amount of dollars.
