Entering the portal does not mean the player will find a better deal. And some call it "testing the waters" but there's no guarantee you will keep your spot on your old team if you don't find anything better.

The way the portal prices continue to go up and up and up I am sure he can find a raise somewhere if he wants. TJD got like 250k four years ago and now would get 4 million. It is beyond insane how the prices keep rising. The donors I guess have more money than god. IMO there should be a limit of what you can get paid and still get a full ride given alot of these guys likely dont even go to class you are taking money away from a deserving student who does not play sports. Its absurd to me a guy gets 4 million plus a free education which he likely just blows off.
Former Jeffersonville High School star Tre Singleton (Northwestern) is visiting Iowa State this weekend...the Cyclones quickly became the likely destination when he entered the portal. Singleton's overlap with Sisley's skillset meant that IU was never an option for Tre.
I wouldn't care if everyone bolted (sans Sisley), but it'd be quite damning if any of the HS recruits decommit. Nothing points that way, but poaching happens.
I’m anxious to watch the IU portal roster build. It’s day 1 and really good players are still entering. How fast will we move? I’m not seeing many signings yet. I think many on here agree that we didn’t move quickly enough last year and didn’t focus enough on guys that had produced at a high level and clearly didn’t get enough length and size. You have to give the coaching staff somewhat of a mulligan due to their late start. But if you move too quickly and fill a couple of slots with guys who are not difference makers, you might miss out on someone who is taking more time to find their best fit for the best money. So the right strategy, timing, organization, people skills, analytics, program selling, hard work, and of course money are the keys to a successful roster. I have to hope that Ryan Carr and CDD have the right plan and strategy to make this happen successfully. And I imagine they are working around the clock right now to get there. But it is high pressure for them. This is go time. Just guessing, but I would think we will see signings start ramping up by day 3.
just putting this in here...i think building through high school is probably the way to go but the numbers on how many players are transfers now is pretty damning.

Somebody is saying we have 12-14 million to spend. If that is true that is not that great given the prices of he top guys. I thought we needed at least 18-20 million.

I've been having trouble getting on the site.....anyone else?
Regarding the transfer situation........I feel like it's the Wild West out there, and our sheriff is Don Knotts.......

That might buy us a round of 32 team if we're lucky. Need $15-20M to have a chance at more.

This is not a program that wants to or has the resources win a title. Dolson needs to be honest with the fans.

Sounds like 14 million minimum needed so I am guessing closer to 20 to buy a good team.

High-major coach to me this weekend about the transfer portal: “If you need five or more this spring, you’d better have at least $14 million.”
Truth be told, it doesn't matter if you need 5 or 10. You need to pay your roster, whether its players currently on your roster or moving to it from another roster. Players know their value and regardless of carryover, everyone will need to pay top dollar for a competitive team.
