Hate to say my hope is that Tucker will be gone, and that allows coach to open his eyes.
That's really the hope I see: CDD was just caught completely unaware of the level of talent he'd need to be competitive. Or, for some reason (late start, limited budget, etc) this is the best he could get. Whichever, it's correctable. But we will need to see some corrections starting immediately.
Big difference is Cig took a 3-9 hapless team and got them to 11-1 and in the 12 team playoffs.
DD took a team actually I think with a better record than this one and well laid an egg ... so getting him "more dogs " won't make a difference

I didn't bring cig up ... I responded to someone's comparison to him.. DD has not moved the needle an inch. And he won't next year. That's just another excuse
@hoosiers94 you may be right- but he scrambled for a team and just simply did t have enough talent- if it happens again, IU must cut ties immediately

In my comment, I didnt make a comparison to Cig, that was misconstrued in subsequent posts. I made a comparison to Cig with a very good team still needing to upgrade . Compared to this poor team with almost nothing, needing to upgrade. Doesnt look good in that light....

@ge-off I think the talent excuse is over blown. We’re no less talented than a number of teams that will get at large bids a week from today. In fact, I think under the circumstances CDD faced, he put together a pretty decent roster.
And I think CDD did some good things with this team, this year. But how we finished, and all the inconsistencies this team showed, I think the biggest failure in his first year was actually his coaching, not the recruiting.
Not the end of the world. It’s probably more common for coaches to have up and down fist seasons, than not. But he sure needs to make some big steps forward next year. It sounds like the portal is gonna be thin again this year, so he and Carr and his staff have their work cut out for them. But no matter who they get, CDD needs to do a better job coaching them. Good thing is he’s shown he can do that, in the past.
@ge-off Iowa, Nebraska, Wisconsin…teams that have similar, if not less, talent, that will make the NCAAs. And then NW and Minny that have less talent, probably, that beat us, and caused us to miss NCAAs.
He does need to upgrade the talent level, especially needs some more, and better, bigs. But he had enough talent to be quite a lot better than they were.

The excuse about he didnt know how physical the big ten was is a huge red flag to me. Wasn't it his job to watch tape and know this? It not some secret the big ten is physical league everyone knows this
