I am not familiar with his work, but he has IU finishing 12th in the Big Ten. We'll find out this week if Sam Alexis will be eligible to play (right now, no). But I am sure him picking IU 12th will inspire some rational responses in the fan base.

Thank you for reading Hoosier Huddle

Utterly ridiculous.  We have as much talent as anyone outside of maybe the top 2.

No 1 is familiar with his work.  Speaks for itself.  Just another guy that can pass noxious fumes.

Well, we finished 10th last year, and are far more talented.

So dropping to 12 seems reasonable. 🙄

Evan Miya is well regarded within the basketball analytics space. That said, I'm very surprised by our low valuation. High 30s I could see happening, but in the 50s? I hope his algorithm is wrong.

On paper it seems we could be worse than last year and still easily finish in the top half of the league, due to our schedule.

Its a listing of where his analytics have each B10 team, not a predicted order of finish in the B10, or any sort of wins prediction.  IU, by virtue of its fairly light schedule, could have a 50ish ranking, and still finish comfortably in the top half of the league and in the NCAAs.  In fact, I wonder if IU's lighter schedule leads to part of this ranking for Miya?

The Big Ten is going to be pretty competitively deep this year.  I think a couple games could swing order of finish pretty dramatically.

ts a listing of where his analytics have each B10 team,

It is a distinction, yeah.

But I thought that's what we were clowning on him for.

An entirely new team ranked highly in the portal transfer rankings, some good Frosh, a decent soph returnee, yet 12 of 18?

And at the end, you are what your record says you are.

If anybody wants to make a wager his analytics have us in the right ranking, for the end of the season, I'll give some odds? Not record, if someone thinks they can also predict schedule strength too, before any games are played... We could use any independent 'total strength' metric. I'll take 'above 50' and give 2 to 1, for 100 bucks. (Three or four wagers max though.)

I thought 3 to 2 were reasonable odds, but didn't want to be called a p#### .. And then suddenly realized MIKE WOODSON could get in the 40s with this team.

But then I remembered some of our overall metric rank under Woodson and realized he could not... So probably being overly generous with the odds.

(Could lay it off against me, and clean up in the long run, but that's OK. This year isn't the long run. We get something done. )
