@tjinman1987 My views on Trent... When you run down physical abilities, and skill, he's a prototypical modern hybrid wing/big.  He can shoot the ball, he's bouncy and athletic, he has long arms.  But, for whatever reason, the teams he's played on haven't thrived.  His Heritage Hills team, I don't think, ever even won a sectional while he was there.  His Monteverde team was down for their standards.  And then his first IU team... well, it was underwhelming to say the least.  Obviously basketball is a team game, but it seams like something is off with Trent.  Combine his teams relative lack of success, with him sitting out last year for long stretches... for a team that desperately needed the attributes he does have... I wonder if he's lazy, if he's too passive by nature, if he's not a gamer, if he's soft maybe... something.

Hoping he just needed to see what college level basketball was all about.  Because if he can figure out why he's not been as effective in the past, and become more impactful and consistent, he could be a huge key to this team's success.

@iunorth I can't answer most of the things you are wondering about and they are valid things to ponder. I can say with near certainty, based on everyone around his high school program or college program that I have spoken with, Trent Sisley is not lazy and he cares a whole lot about basketball and improving his game. I don't know what his basketball future holds but whatever the fate, it won't be because of a lack of putting in the work.

@tjinman1987 That's good to hear!  I watched him at numerous Adidas events the summer before his senior year.  He would have stretches where he'd dominate games, and stretches where he didn't impact the game at all.  Where as guys like Mullins, and Ertel even, were much more consistently impactful, always seemingly in the thick of the action.  My very uneducated view is he's too passive.  You've vouched that it isn't laziness, I suspected it probably wasn't that.  But he's a bit of a floater... takes the notion of "taking what the opposition gives you" a bit too far, too often.  That's a switch that's hard to flip, but it can, and does happen.  And for Sisley, with his size, his underestimated athleticism, his shooting and ball handling ability, if he does flip that aggressiveness switch... well, it'd help IU a lot.  And would help his basketball career even more.

@iunorth Indiana would greatly benefit from Sisley being a useful player off the bench. Assuming Alexis is not eligible and Clemens Sokolov is nothing more than an emergency option, IU will need Sherrell to play some minutes at the 5. That's fine but it then necessitates getting quality minutes at the 4 from either Mustaf as a small-ball option, Sisley, Karvala or Manhertz. Karvala and Manhertz will almost certainly not be physically ready to play there in Big Ten action. That leaves Mustaf and Sisley. Whether he's ready or not, Sisley will be needed for quality minutes.

@tjinman1987 Agreed... but then, he was desperately needed last year as well, maybe more than he will be this year... and he spent LOOONNNGG stretches on the bench... after having impactful games that helped us win some big games in the middle part of the season.  I would guess, if he doesn't solve what caused him to be relegated to the bench, that he'll end up playing LESS this year, than he did last year.  And that would end up being his last year in Bloomington.  Its kind of like a contract year, of sorts, for Trent at IU.  He has all the tools.  Hopefully he and CDD can figure out how to use them more consistently.
