@hoosierdaddy No, the trial date is set for Friday. The NCAA will appeal for that.

Thank you for reading Hoosier Huddle

@thehoosierhuddle

My bad, I misread. Its the trial date that is set for February

So I guess we still have some hope that the appeal gets expedited

Only if it's not a Texas Tech judge making the decisions apparently.

They made that trial date after the season on purpose.

I spent 7 hours on planes and in airports yesterday and read a bunch of stuff about this.  The one thing I came across that gives me some hope (on Reddit, no less) was this post.  I'm hoping it's real.

Ha, gee I wonder if TTU is going to declare that Brendan is ready to play in week three.

@tammany They're "open to conversations".  He did a great job of making a broader point about the guy's well being, which is hard to disagree with, then flushed it with that last paragraph.

I find their talking points about the guys well being to be disingenuous and gross. Sorsby is a gambling addict, who clearly likes to bet on football. Giving him a brinks truck of cash, a starting job, and having him be surrounded by sports seems equivalent to insisting on only hanging out with a recovering alcoholic in a bar to me

Agree with you 100% on this point. That's the reason that last paragraph negates everything they said about helping the kid.

Boy is that Texas Tech plea by Kirby Hocutt a wagon load of horse manure.

Sorsby didnt seek treatment! His hide was nailed to the wall. So he said Im going to treatment to try to lighten my sentence. Everybody knows that.

Two, how would you feel if he was your son? For many or even most Dads, he would be done playing football! At least for this season.

Texas Tech cares not a whit about Sorsby, they want to win games.

All those "supports" they say are in place for him are fine and dandy, and I would have laid out a similar plan if I were asked. Then he would need to sit out the year, find out the eventual ruling in the case with the NCAA (and accept it), and then, only then, see if there's a place for him on the field in the Fall of 2027 if allowed.

Fair point. But it's rare for an addict of any stripe to admit he's out of control on his own. Most have to have a (metaphorical) gun put to their heads. Works for some, not for others.

Didn't the old Colts QB get busted again recently?

Not going to bag further on Sorsby. He doesnt know right from wrong all that well anyway. It is the rest of the system that needs scorned.

Screw it.

Send Texas Tech to Bloomington for the first round of the CFP and Cignetti can be the judge and jury.

Whaddaya know?  The NCAA grew a backbone and a pair of cojones and called TX Techs bluff.  Word is Sorsby is headed to the NFL Supplemental Draft.
