Except they didn't 'resolve' much. Sorsby just didn't contest it any further.
Maybe the NCAA filing still goes ahead, I don't know.
So a few things.Whaddaya know? The NCAA grew a backbone and a pair of cojones and called TX Techs bluff. Word is Sorsby is headed to the NFL Supplemental Draft.
The NCAA had a pair the whole time. What were they supposed to do to overcome the state court ruling, aside from ask for the appeal to be heard sooner than Feb '27?
More importantly, the fact that Sorsby is leaving TTU had nothing to do with the NCAA. It was the Big XII's legal action, only made possible by the idiot AG in Texas, that prompted Sorsby to enter the supplemental draft.
I don't think Sorsby has a serious gambling addiction. But, thanks to all this nonsense TTU came up with for his case, he's got all sorts of diagnoses from his "doctors" he has to explain away. Of course there is the "gambling addiction," but I'm reading he also got a diagnoses of panic attacks and anxiety. Absurd.
So embarrassing for TTU. Nice work Big 12
Yes, I am pleased that the Big 12 stepped up to the plate in this one. Got more respect there than I had before.I don't think Sorsby has a serious gambling addiction. Sorsby wanted to stay and play, but the B12 sued to preserve / protect their (the conference’s) authority to discipline TTU if they played him. The Texas AG threatened the B12 and said any intervention on their part to punish TTU if they played Sorsby would be illegal (doubtful, at best, and litigation that would’ve been both time consuming and distracting for a US Senate hopeful). Paxton didn’t need that issue to deal with while in a bruising battle for an empty Senate seat.
The NFL Supplemental Draft filing date was looming, which created a deadline of sorts for Sorsby to stay and fight or move on. TTU was clearly tiring of the circus and advised him it was probably time to move on, in spite of the fact that his eligibility for the 2026 was quite likely to survive. Simply put, they didn’t want him all of the noise he was bringing to them, so they nudged him firmly to the door. Seeing the writing on the wall, he took the hint and was no longer and never a Red Raider.
