The CFL will not allow Brendan Sorsby to join its league this season. “Upholding the integrity of the league and ensuring fair competition are paramount to the CFL,” the CFL said in a statement to USA Today on Friday. “ the allegations involving Brendan Sorsby are serious and concerning. At this time, the CFL will not register a contract for him and no team will be permitted to add him to its negotiation list.”
From all reports, this kid gambled on games but that's it. Meanwhile, the NFL drafts kids who have literally killed people, Jalen Carter, choked his pregnant girlfriend, Tyreke Hill, or--in the corrupted-the-integrity-of-the-game category--taken payments as players when that was not allowed (too many to list).
They’re obviously scared shitless over kids getting compromised and trying to manipulate outcomes. Hard to blame them for that, and it’s part of the reason TT pushed him out the door. We might not ever acknowledge it, but Sorsby approached a number of schools about playing, including IU. We weren’t interested six months ago and aren’t interested today. Nice that Cignetti took the high road.
