UNT executed a solid gameplan cause they're very well coached.  Almost could close my eyes and believe it was orchestrated by Cignetti.  Gonna have to up that 46 # a bunch regardless of the opponent and how efficient our offensive possessions.  It's up to the D.

@middawg IU only ran 46 plays last week. 1/3 of the snaps aren’t going to be those guys carrying the ball. They should get some run, but 15+ is a high percentage

Using '25 vs Indiana St. as a reasonable comp to this week's Howard game.

Hemby, Black, and Beebe totaled 16 carries.

The Mendoza's with 8 carries.

Martin and Cuono had 13 carries.

Just not seeing either Beebe or Turbo getting more than 10 carries against Howard unless the offense really struggles being explosive.

60-70 offensive snaps easy unless the D and ST scores 5 TDs.

1. The AP poll will release this afternoon. I expect no movement for IU, unless some people drop a couple first place votes.

2. We’ll have our Know Your Opponent series up today as the Howard Bison come to town.

3. Make sure to check the home page for updated news.

4. Our new podcast wth Andy Graham was recorded last night. Listen here: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/hoosier-huddle-podcast/id967805002?i=1000788389306

Questions that I haven't seen asked/answered, but might have missed:

  • After being told Brunner would play tackle and Ajani would play guard, we saw the exact opposite.  Why?
  • Wyatt was cleared to play by a judge, but I don't believe he got into the game.  Same to assume that he's not physically ready?
  • Why was Smythe unavailable?

@gros-louis

1. Cig gave an answer on that and Andy and I talked about it at the end of the podcast. Basically Bostad thought that was the lineup that was the best. It changed like 8-9 days before game 1.

2. Wyatt was always a couple weeks behind Daley. So maybe he wasn’t able to go, plus not many plays were run.

3. As far as Smyth, we just learned that yesterday and IU won’t give injury specifics.

The Morning Huddle: What You Need to Know About IU Football: September 11

I just want to take a minute to remember those who lost their lives, those whose lives were permanently impacted and those who helped others get through it all as best as possible on the 25th anniversary of 9/11. As a New Yorker, this day will be seared forever into my soul.

On to football things.

1. Kellan Wyatt and Stephen Daley's court date today was postponed, so they are still eligible to play this week. Daley played 14 snaps on Saturday while Wyatt dressed but did not play. During fall camp, Cignetti said that Wyatt was always a little bit behind Daley in being ready.

2. We'll have our Game Day Primer and Tidbits for the Tailgate out later today, so you can look like the smartest fans at the tailgate.

The Morning Huddle: What You Need to Know About IU Football: September 13

The Hoosiers moved to 2-0 after a 55-0 win over Howard. It should be noted that they played a 10-minute fourth quarter as well. We have a full game wrap-up below:

Game Wrap and Reaction

Becker and the Run Game Make for an Efficient Day

Defense was 'Back to How They Used to Be'

The Big Ten took it on the chin this weekend with a 2-6 record against P4 teams. The only wins were Michigan knocking off No.11 Oklahoma and No. 21 Iowa beating Iowa State 16-13. Texas scored 21 straight points to stun No. 1 Ohio State, Purdue fell in OT against Wake Forest and Minnesota was blown out at home against Mississippi State. Oregon was beat at Oklahoma State.

What's Coming Today?

The AP and Coaches Poll come out later this afternoon; I expect there to be some major shakeups.

We will post how IU's opponents did this weekend as well.

Check out the recruiting thread for some reactions to prospect visits as well.
