@zeke4ahs Dinich is an odd duck. I talked to her at Big Ten media days in July and she’s just odd.

She talked shit nonstop for 2 seasons, then made sure she was around for the Natty flowers. She can go pound sand, odd or not.

Same goes for Walker, Stephen A Smith and the rest. I've got a special homemade gift for all of their Xmas stockings.

@surjay There is SEC bias for sure but the reality is that this is a down year for the Big Ten though.  It looks silly for people to deny that…

Yet, the SEC never has a "down" year. Their middling teams are always ranked and then get worked in the postseason.

B1G is only down at the very top due to injuries. SEC is overrated like always. B1G will be lucky to get 2 teams into the playoffs this year due to bias despite being heads and shoulders the best conference 3 years running. Its funny that never carries over the next year like it always does for the SEC (who's riding on ancient history at this point).

Spot on.

All last year, in the runup to the CFP selections, we kept hearing and reading that the SEC wasn't down at all.  Rather, the SEC mouthpieces argued, the fact that the conference was loaded with multi-loss teams simply reflected the parity and strength of the conference, the weekly "gauntlet" of playing in the SEC, etc. Most SEC teams possess so much high-end talent, they argued, that almost every conference team is capable of beating any other conference team on a given Saturday. As a result, the losses are "good" losses.

But now, suddenly, that logic doesn't apply to the B1G.

The SEC benefits, every single season, from high preseason and early-season rankings based mostly on brand bias.

I think it is a down year for both conferences.  But the SEC pretends that every loss in their conference is a good loss because all of the teams are so great.  The reality is that their conference isn't any better than the big ten...just overrated

I think the media is dealing with the fallout of no team actually being elite.

They didn't want to admit IU was elite last year until the bitter end but there is no team even close to what IU was last year, this year.

With all the seemingly coordinated slander by people with goo for brains in the media, I found it very funny that ESPN actually put a thing that does blind resume's...every single one of these replies to Zach's tweet (below) seems to have IU right in there. (here's the link to the site: https://espnanalytics.com/cfb-blind-resume).

I would love to see people like Heather Dinich or that clown Brandon Walker actually do this live on air...it would be very funny how many had IU around where they are in the CFP rankings.

I may be in the minority here, but Coach Cignetti calling out the national media for their talking points is not a great thing.

I think he has something behind his madness.

If Northwestern and USC, Iowa, and maybe Nebraska and Oregon, etc. get the credit they deserve then we are a lot harder to kill with two losses. If Northwestern gets no credit, then our win over them at home doesn't mean much and we are on the bubble if we have two losses. Ohio State who beat us at home will play Northwestern, Nebraska, Oregon yet, and beat Iowa.

But according to the committee rankings, Iowa and Northwestern and others, don't mean much.

Have you truly used your eyes THIS YEAR and decided the Big Ten is better or equal to the SEC?  THIS YEAR???

It's not unreasonable to see the Big is decent.

I wouldn't say equal no, but not all that far behind.

Maryland, Rutgers, Michigan State, Purdue are the bottom and they suck.

Oregon, Iowa, Northwestern, Indiana, Ohio State, UCLA don't suck. Jury is out on Michigan, Penn State. Minnesota not too great. All the teams in the jury is out or dont suck category can give anyone a game.

Is the SEC overrated? Less this year than recent years. Big is down a little, as far as strongest teams, which is what shows up in playoffs. But if Ohio State gets in, they're still a threat and no reason to be scared of any SEC team.

The SEC is top to bottom better this year.

And I don’t really care much.  IU’s fate is still 99% controlled by IU.

The conference debate is an interesting sideshow.  But it’s a sideshow.  When teams in our conference like OSU and UM won the title did it really make you happy at all?  I barely cared… plus the big offset is I don’t like those teams.

@tammany I would have thought this to be true, basically every year, in the last 10-15 years.  Yet, when given the opportunities in post season play, the B10 has pretty routinely proven that to NOT be true.

I think injuries, this year, in the B10 probably do have our depth a little off versus the SEC.  But ranking the SEC teams next to the Big Ten teams, in terms of how is the best, and most capable of winning at the CFP level, right now...

1. Georgia/Indiana... Maybe edge to Georgia because they're more healthy... but not a huge edge

2. Texas/UCLA...different kinds of teams, could easily see UCLA shutting Texas offense down, and beating them

3. Bama/Ohio State...I'd probably pick Bama here, but obviously Ohio State's defense is capable of making this a winnable game

4. Kentucky/USC... Toss up.  Kentucky overrated, USC talented and capable.

5. Ole Miss/Iowa... Toss up.  Ole Miss very up and down.  Iowa defense would give Ole Miss issues.

6. Tennessee/Oregon... Probably much closer than most would think it would be.  Oregon would probably win in Eugene, and lose in Knoxville

7. LSU/Northwestern...These 7-10 spots might be where SEC has the edge... LSU/Mizzou/SC are probably a little better than middle level B10 teams, right now.

8. Missouri/Wisconsin...

9. South Carolina/Minnesota...

10. Florida/Michigan... For sure Michigan could win this game.  They beat Oklahoma.

11. Auburn/Nebraska... For sure Nebraska could win this game.

12. Oklahoma/Illinois... For sure Illinois could win this game.

13. Miss State/Washington... With Miss State's QB now out, for sure Washington could win this game.  And if that argument is important towards SEC, then so should be IU, OSU, UCLA, Oregon as well... who have also had major QB injuries.

14. Texas AM/Penn State... Toss up...

15. Arkansas/Purdue... Now that we're down in the bottom handful of teams, I'm not sure any of the bottom 3-4 SEC teams are really all that much better than the bottom 4-5 B10 Teams.

16 Vandy/Rutgers-Maryland-Michigan State...

So... I think the SEC might be a tad better/deeper this year... but I think even that is being influenced by their preseason records, the hype and coverage they get, etc...  Would LSU beat the B10's 7th best team... talent wise, probably.  But would the B10 teams pick up wins up and down the rest of the ranks... probably.

He called out michigan and ohio state, told the country to google him, said IU was going to win the big ten, all before he coached a game at the losingest program in history. He then went out and backed all that up and more. But now we want him to stop talking?

Idk man, seems like if his program is being disparaged over and over he should have more clout than ever to run his mouth as a response. Not like he gives a s*** about the reaction he knows is coming.

How in the world did she become some sage football analyst? Not attractive. Bad attitude. Poor takes.

I couldn't agree more. Same goes for Haines and his tweets. Don't drastically change who you are because of success. Cig has just shifted it from the B1G to the national stage. He's earned it.

@iunorth Maybe.

I'm not sure the B1G would outperform the estimated spreads:

1 Georgia vs Indiana: UGA -3
2 Texas vs UCLA: TEX -7
3 Alabama vs Ohio State: OSU -4?  (hard to know with QB)
4 Kentucky vs USC: USC -3.5
5 Ole Miss vs Iowa: OM -2.5
6 Tennessee vs Oregon: TENN -1.5
7 LSU vs Northwestern: LSU -11.5
8 Missouri vs Wisconsin: MIZ -5.5
9 South Carolina vs Minnesota: SC -7
10 Florida vs Michigan: MICH -1
11 Auburn vs Nebraska: NEB -9
12 Oklahoma vs Illinois: OU -3.5
13 Mississippi State vs Washington: UW -6
14 Texas A&M vs Penn State: PK
15 Arkansas vs Purdue: PK
16a Vanderbilt vs Rutgers: VU -3.5
16b Vanderbilt vs Maryland: VU -1
16c Vanderbilt vs Michigan State: VU -1.5

Favored: SEC 9, Big Ten 5.  PK 2

Also, it's just one year.  Next year the B1G might be better.  If the big FB schools in the B1G would get their act together that would help the conference.

As someone who watched RMK chew up and spit out the media for the better part of a few decades, many times just for the sport of it, CCC's calling out the "Worldwide Leader in SEC Asskissing" doesn't even register on the care-o-meter.

Yeah..I can’t figure out why anyone would care about what he said on the topic. This doesn’t even register as mild
