Finebaum is an Alabama homer.  He sides with them every chance he gets.  Alabama is about to go through a horrific stretch.  Possibly the toughest schedule in FBS.  Worst case, IU ends 10-2.  Alabama on the other and, 9-3 or 9-4 wouldn't surprise me. The SEC is brutal this year, and that's why when Coach Cig said they'd adopt the SEC philosophy, which wasn't officially adopted yet, it pushed the SEC to 9 games in the toughest football conference in the country.  Alabama will slide as will the rest of the SEC and lose a bowl game.

Dude I completely understand your statement. So for the 100th time.  ODU is a cupcake.  I don't care. But you can't say our schedule is tough and there's isn't.   It's a contradiction. Maybe you don't get it .

ODU is better than a lot of power 4 teams. They manhandled Va Tech at their place. They could win out and have an outside shot at the group of 5 CFP spot or at least be ranked at the end of season.

I wouldn't oversell ODU for beating Virginia Tech though, and the fact we couldn't spy their QB very well, in the first game of the year.

I'm rooting for them though.

@iunorth the old adage of " be where your feet are" holds true here.  The team and staff need to follow that, but as fans we just need to enjoy the new INDIANA.

BEAT PURDUE

Wofford got smashed by VT 38-6.

VT is bad, but they’re still a P4 who played SC even for three quarters in a quasi road game and just beat NC State on the road.

Going onto Lane Stadium and blowing VT out is a legit achievement.

@hoosiers94 NC State must feel awful if that's true.

people are doing to ODU what we get upset about people doing to us.

Judging a program based solely on the name on the jersey.

they would be at the bottom of the big ten. Cmon .. I know you all want to give legitimacy to a team we "struggled" with and hence give more clout to our team. Makes sense. I just call it as I see it.  We played poorly. They perhaps had one of their better games. They aren't ranked and they won't be...  they are a good mid major team and on any given day they could sneak up on someone.  But they are not power 5 comparable.  And perception is reality. They might beat UCLA.

We played poorly but they aren't as shit as you're making them out to be either.

If this happens, I'm bringing my two Bama sons and coming to the game.  Don't give two shits what it might cost.  Lifetime event for me as both sons attended and one daughter about to go.  Go Hoosiers!

Whoa, speaking of maintainin legitimacy.  When did IU struggle against ODU?   IU certainly left 35-42 points on the board, but they certainly didn't "struggle".  Thats changing the narrative completely.

IU had 502 yards of offense.  309 yards rushing. Held ODU to 96yds passing. IU intercepted ODU 3 times to their 1.  IU had only 3 penalties to ODU's 9.   IU dominated that game and only gave up 2 long TD's. That was the only thing of 'concern' that went wrong.  IU missed easy opportunities for points, which would've made it another 50pt win but it wasn't due to IU not being able to move the ball. It's far from struggling when you are moving the ball at will.

@hoosiers94 Not that I'm certain but I think I read that the pre-season games are scheduled years out. May well be that this year was set before Cig was even hired.

we "struggled" compared to what expectations were in regards to the scoreboard.  That's what matters in the world of perception.  Finebaum didn't watch that game. Doubt he's spent any time digesting the stats.  Hence his opinion of us. He's not alone.  Look we are on the same side here.  I looking at this from the rest of college football's lens.  I think we are a very good if not great team. But we are talking about why we aren't given the respect. That game is one reason why for this season thus far.  And our history.  That said we've opened a lot of eyes and with each victory we open more.  We go into Eugene and walk out with a W .... we open all eyes perhaps with the exception of Finebaums

So you agree, we didn't struggle against ODU?
