@co-hoosier QB rating isnt a great stat. He threw 2 or 3 passes where the purdue DB just dropped it. We got lucky
Im chalking it up to either the cold, or heisman being in his @co-hoosier
Im sure he will bounce back.
I can’t see 56-3, >160 QB rating, and dominant running game as being lucky.
Maybe PU was lucky it was even in position to drop a potential interception.
This is going to be a glorified scrimmage. If it were up to me this game would be canceled, we would be co-champions of the B1G, and we would await the playoffs together. It would be a terrible shame for key players to be injured and out of the playoffs because of this game.
As a Buckeye I can't help but be reminded of 2006. We and Michigan were #1 and #2. We beat Michigan 42-41 to advance to the BCS Championship Game. There was a lot of talk that Michigan should be voted #2 and that the two great teams should have a rematch for the national title. Instead, SEC champion Florida was selected and Michigan got stuck playing PAC10 champion USC. Michigan got smoked by a CLEARLY superior USC team and OSU was embarrassed. I hope that our two respective programs don't meet a similar fate.
@littlebitchbuckeye "Glorified scrimmage?" Get real, dude.
The winner of this game secures the #1 seed for the CFP. The winner plays in the Rose Bowl game - - the oldest and most prestigious bowl game - - and the game that has traditionally featured the Big Ten's best team. If we win, it would be IU's first Big Ten championship since 1967, when we were co-champs with Minnesota (who beat us that season) and Purdue, and it would be IU's first Rose Bowl game appearance since January 1, 1968 when we lost 14-3 to OJ Simpson and the Trojans. It would be IU's first undisputed Big Ten championship in 80 years, going back to Bo McMillin's 9-0-1 team in 1945.
The game, between the nation's #1 and #2, has already garnered huge national interest and will have monster TV ratings.
An argument can be made that, in light of the expanded CFP, the conference championship games - - in general - - should be eliminated, but this is a marquee matchup featuring Heisman contenders and a fascinating storyline about one of the most storied programs in the history of the college game taking on a team that has been historically awful but has risen from the ashes. It's great theater and it should be a great game.
@littlebitchbuckeye I agree. These things need to go away especially when both teams are already in. If not for this game both teams would go in the top 2 seeds. It is totally ridiculous that we will be forced to play an extra game that others won’t have to play. If key players are injured it could cost the conference a national title.
I don’t think anyone will look at this game as the national championship. Back in the old days before the CFP possibly, but now it is just another grab for TV dollars. I’m with the OSU guy here. This game should have been eliminated with the introduction of the 12 team CFP and is now superfluous. Hope no one on either shade gets hurt. We both need to get into the playoffs and eat some SEC butt. Then meet in the title game. Many will see this game as the national championship.
There’s too much money to be made from conference championship games. They draw huge ratings and the Big Ten one is a huge economic boon for Indy. Every restaurant and bar will be packed all day on Saturday,

Does Cig actually go all out in a meaningless game or does he keep some things close to the vest? I wouldn't be surprised if it's the latter. And if there's a rematch in the Natty game I'm going with the loser of this one.
@littlebitchbuckeye Its annoying the domers will never have to play this extra game. The bright side, is Notre Dame can be left out of the playoffs due to how the games went
If BYU beats TTU, and if Bama beats UGA, Notre Dame will be pushed out due to auto qualifiers
I saw a great take today on CBS Sports from 3 talking head clowns. This guy actually said the if IU loses the championship game to OSU, we should lose our spot in the 4 team bye to……Oregon. I have never seen such sheer incompetence in sports analysts. The social media outlets are completely saturated with any moron with a microphone.
Reading the comments, even Oregon fans said that if this actually happened, they would be entirely disgusted with the committee and the legitimacy with the whole process. And, rightfully so.
I am going to go ahead and announce my concerns for this game since it seems they are going to play it. I think OSU is probably playing their best football right now. I don’t think IU has played their best football in a month. We have had some guys out and they are going to be back probably but to seriously compete in this game IU is going to have to have an Oregon like performance. Maybe we have been laying in the weeds and holding back trying save it for later. I hope so. I really don’t want to listen to the crap we had to take last year.
