The recent conference realignment has started a civil war in college sports. Ironically, the civil war is a regional rivalry between Oregon and Oregon State that may not be played anymore due to Oregon and Washington jumping ship to the Big Ten at a heavy discount starting in 2024. Nobody asked for the death of regionality in sports, but here we are.

ROSEMONT, Ill. – The Big Ten Council of Presidents/Chancellors (COP/C) voted today to admit the University of Oregon and the University of Washington to the Big Ten Conference effective August 2, 2024, with competition to begin in all sports for the 2024-25 academic year. With the schools’ admission, Oregon and Washington will also join the Big Ten Academic Alliance (BTAA), a consortium of world-class research institutions dedicated to advancing their academic missions.

The Indiana Hoosiers got to put on the shoulder pads on Friday in Bloomington as they conducted their third practice of the fall and the physicality and competition was heating up. The Hoosiers have revamped their defensive line via the transfer portal and players are competing for three starting roles.

Matthew Bedford’s 2022 season ended before halftime of the season opener against Illinois. It was a devastating blow for a unit that would struggle for most of the next 11.5 games. The senior could have peeled off his pads and called it a night, however his team needed him. He stayed dressed and engaged on the sideline to do what he could to help pull out the season opening win.

Indiana football offensive lineman Kahlil Benson was one of four Hoosier student-athletes chosen to participate in the Big Ten’s Big Life Series: Selma to Montgomery Program this summer. In mid-July Benson, as well as student-athletes from other Big Ten institutions, made the trip down to Selma, Alabama to learn about the Civil Rights Movement in the United States.
