Indiana defensive lineman Marcus Burris was a four-star prospect coming out of Pleasant Grove High School in Texarkana, Texas and signed with Texas A&M. He spent two seasons and played eight games with the Aggies before transferring to Indiana.

The Indiana Hoosiers got to put on the shoulder pads on Friday in Bloomington as they conducted their third practice of the fall and the physicality and competition was heating up. The Hoosiers have revamped their defensive line via the transfer portal and players are competing for three starting roles.

Indiana picked up a bright, young defensive tackle in Philip Blidi last week. Blidi has multiple years of eligibility left and an ability to be versatile for Tom Allen and Chad Wilt’s defense. He was recruited by Indiana and Paul Randolph out of high school and felt confident with his decision to play for the Hoosiers.

The Indiana Hoosiers welcomed in 20 new faces for spring football practice in 2022 with one of them being defensive lineman JH Tevis who transferred in from the University of California this winter. Tevis was an All-Pac-12 selection during the 2021 season for the Bears. He posted 37 tackles and 5.5 tackles for loss. The Hoosiers are hoping Tevis can add more production to the defensive line.

Indiana defensive line coach Paul Randolph wants thew players in his room to enjoy playing the game of football. Randolph, who came to IU from Texas Tech in the offseason, is all for having fun himself as well as he brings out the energy and passion in his players.

Indiana football’s roster and coaching staff have undergone a slew of changes following a disappointing 2021 season. With Tom Allen’s emphasis on upgrading the defensive line through both the transfer portal and incoming class of high school recruits coupled with Coach Kevin People’s departure to Missouri, the D line room could arguably boast the most of these changes heading into next season.

It has been a hectic offseason for the Indiana Hoosiers football program after an extremely disappointing 2-10 season. Just hours after the season ended with a 44-7 loss to Purdue head coach Tom Allen fired offensive coordinator Nick Sheridan, but over the last few weeks the Hoosiers have seen more staff attrition as IU lost defensive coordinator Charlton Warren to UNC, defensive line coach Kevin Peoples to Missouri and most recently running backs coach Deland McCullough to Notre Dame. It’s enough movement to rattle anyone to the core, especially after a 2-10 season, but if Tom Allen is rattled, he is not showing it.
