Hoosiers Land First Commitment of the 2020 Class in Carmel LB Ty Wise

The Hoosiers have landed their first commitment of the 2020 recruiting cycle on Thursday when they landed Carmel H.S. (Ind.) linebacker Ty Wise. Wise is a three-star prospect and ranked as the eighth best player in Indiana according to 247 Sports. Wise holds 10 offer, mostly out of the Group of Five, and Indiana was his only Power Five offer thus far. Iowa and Purdue have been interested but had not formally offered Wise. Wise’s primary recruiter to IU was defensive coordinator Kane Wommack while defensive line coach Mark Hagen is listed as the secondary.

Recruiting never ends. Tom Allen and his staff just wrapped up the 2019 recruiting class last Wednesday and now it is time for that group to jump into building another strong class for the 2020 cycle. Junior days play a big role in getting prospects on campus. He is the list of prospects that should be on campus on Sunday. The Hoosiers once again reached down to the Sunshine State to bolster their recruiting class. Three-star safety Josh Sanguinetti, out of University School in Fort Lauderdale, has signed with the Hoosiers. IU had been in the market for another safety in this class and landed a solid prospect. His six-foot-two frame reminds some of former Hoosier Jonathan Crawford and if he is anywhere close to where Crawford was as a Hoosier, IU found a gem.

Sometimes in the passing game, you just need a guy that can go up and get the ball over smaller cornerbacks. The Hoosiers have signed just that in big-bodied receiver Jordan Jakes. Jakes played his senior season in Baltimore, Maryland at St. Frances Academy. Jakes held 18 offers but chose the Hoosiers in August over the likes of Virginia, Michigan, and Michigan State. Despite his size, Jakes has proven he can move around at the receiver position and catch balls both on the outside and in the slot: versatility which will come in handy at the next level.
