With the February signing period just a few days away the eyes of IU football fans have been watching social media for commitments. On Saturday afternoon the Hoosiers landed their 20th commitment for the 2019 signing class as Tim Weaver, a six-foot-five offensive lineman out of Hellertown, Pennsylvania.
Weaver is rated as a three-star recruit and the 29th best player in Pennsylvania. He is also listed as the 120th best tackle in the country. The Hoosiers had five spots left in this class and the offensive line is a priority. At six-foot-five Weaver has the frame to add to his listed weight of 285 and has the benefit of a veteran line returning in 2019 so he does not have to be rushed to duty.
Weaver announced his decision on Twitter saying, “I am 100% committed to continue my academic and athletic career at Indiana University!” Weaver took a visit to IU last weekend. IU beat out Rutgers for his services while Weaver held offers from Rutgers, Syracuse, Akron, Buffalo and Bucknell. IU’s 2019 class currently sits at 10th in the Big Ten and 41st nationally.
Weaver is a very athletic tackle who can pull and get up field while run blocking. He was dominant in pass blocking. While his level of competition may be unknown in his highlight tape, Weaver has a good set of skill which can be developed, He earned Class AAAA All-State honors. It will be up to Indiana offensive line coach Darren Hiller to take this ball of clay and mold it into a Big Ten tackle.
