Week Two Match-Up to Watch: Jonathan Crawford & Tony Fields vs. Virginia's Wide Receivers

Week Two Match-Up to Watch: Jonathan Crawford & Tony Fields vs. Virginia's Wide Receivers

Week one came and went, and just like that, IU is back on the road in a nearly must-win situation. They played decently against Ohio State on Thursday, but the big plays and inability to run the ball effectively ultimately doomed the Hoosiers in their quest for one of the biggest wins in school history. IU has now completely shifted their focus to the Virginia Cavaliers, who are fresh off a 2-10 season and a 28-10 win over FCS William & Mary. The big plays I just talked about killed Indiana on Thursday, and that is my matchup to watch for this week.

Kevin Wilson Got Indiana Out of the Fog, But It's Time to Trust Tom Allen

It has been a whirlwind of a year for Indiana Hoosiers football. Fans saw IU reach a bowl game for a second consecutive season – the program’s first back-to-back bowl appearances since Bill Mallory’s 1989-1991 teams. After the 2015-2016 season, quarterback Nate Sudfeld, running back Jordan Howard, and offensive lineman Jason Spriggs were all selected in the NFL draft. Despite losing a wealth of offensive talent, Indiana’s emergence on the defensive end allowed the team to enjoy some success last season. As we all now know, the defensive improvement can be credited to first-year defensive coordinator, Tom Allen.

Keys to a Historic Indiana Win Over Ohio State on Thursday Night

Tom Allen is correct when he says his team doesn’t have to feel the pressure of playing a perfect game. IU does need to be good or great in all three phases and execute the five keys listed below to become the talk of college football on Thursday night.

Indiana's Receivers Against Ohio State's Secondary is the Match-up to Watch Thursday

Well, game week is finally here, and Thursday night is fast approaching. Lots has been said about this Indiana team not being able to stand up against Ohio State at all, and I just simply don’t think that’s true. Indiana has one of their best teams in a long time, and the Buckeyes come to Bloomington with some inexperience at glaring positions that could be a huge factor in week one on the road. One of those positions is defensive back, and luckily for IU, the WR group is the strongest group on the team. Let’s take a look at the first matchup to watch of the year- IU’s wide receivers vs. OSU’s defensive backs.
