The Hoosiers fell to 3-7 after a 48-45 loss to Illinois and head coach Tom Allen’s name is starting to show up on hot seat lists while the Spartans already have their coaching search underway after Mel Tucker was fired mid-season. The Indiana Football team displayed tremendous fight and love for each other during the second half of the Hoosier's upset win over Michigan State. They came into the game 10.5-point underdogs and left the field after the first half down 24-7. Whatever Tom Allen said in the locker room worked and it rallied the troops to tie the score leading to a crazy overtime.

The Hoosiers played their fourth top 10 opponent in six weeks as the Michigan State Spartans came to town. The Spartans tough defense was stout against the reevaluated Hoosiers offense as they won 20-15.

Jack Tuttle received the start at quarterback after Michael Penix went down against Penn State. Tuttle struggled mightily throughout the game. He threw two interceptions, one was returned for a touchdown and the other one also resulted in a Michigan State touchdown.

Series History: Michigan State and Indiana battle for the Old Brass Spittoon but the series is one that has been dominated by the Spartans. MSU has won 48 of the 67 contests with IU only being victorious 17 times (there have been two ties). Last season was one of the Hoosiers more comprehensive wins over the Spartans as they dominated 24-0 in East Lansing. Now in his second-year, Mel Tucker infused the roster with several transfers and this will be a much different squad than the one IU beat a season ago.
