All of Hoosier Nation’s eyes and ears have been glued to social media for updates surrounding the injured Hoosier quarterback Kurtis Rourke. On Monday, Curt Cignetti provided a brief update on his status.

Cignetti said he is “optimistic on Kurtis Rourke. he's thrown the last few days, building up his workload will increase as the week goes on, and that's all I'm going to say about it.”

There were reports from ESPN’s Pete Thamel that Rourke, who suffered a thumb injury against Nebraska, had surgery and screws put in early last week.

Rourke missed the second half of Indiana’s 56-7 win over Nebraska and the entire game against Washington last week. He has played at a Heisman candidate level for the Hoosiers this year. In seven games he has thrown for 1,941 yards and 15 touchdowns to just three interceptions. Indiana head coach Curt Cignetti discussed Rourke’s injury after the game Saturday.

The Hoosiers take on Michigan State for the Old Brass Spittoon on Saturday at 3:30pm in Spartan Stadium.
