Football season is almost here! The 2014 season unofficially kicked off today at Big Ten Media Days where coaches and players from each school talked to the media and previewed the upcoming season. The topics ranged from actual football questions to where Nebraska head coach Bo Pelini’s cat is staying (he was napping in the hotel room), but let’s get down to what we are all here to read about; coach Kevin Wilson’s comments about the 2014 season.

Here are some news and notes regarding Indiana during Media Days

1. In the battle for the backup quarterback role Nate Boudreau is listed at number two and Zander Diamont is third on the depth chart.

2. Danny Friend is listed as the starting tight end.

3. Dominique Booth is listed as Shane Wynn’s back up

4. Rashard Fant is listed as the back up to Michael Hunter at right corner.

We continue our position preview by looking at a position that has come under much scrutiny in the last 12 months. The quarterbacks.

The Indiana Hoosiers have finally figured out who their starting quarterback will be in 2014. That man is Nate Sudfeld. Coach Kevin Wilson had the choice made for him after both Cam Coffman (winter) and Tre Roberson (summer) transferred from the program. The Hoosiers are officially Nate Sudfeld’s team, however there are issues about the depth at a position that just a year ago was loaded.

Tre Roberson Transferring From IU

In a release by Indiana Athletics this afternoon, Kevin Wilson announced that junior quarterback Tre Roberson will transfer prior to the 2014 season.  To say this is a shock would be an understatement.  In the release on IUHoosiers.com Wilson says "We appreciate and thank Tre for his contributions to our football program both on and off the field, he is an outstanding player and a great young man. We wish him well as he moves forward with his career."
