There is nothing quite like the scheduling of non-conference college football games. There isn’t. Games are scheduled years, sometime decades in advance by coaches and athletic directors who may not be around when the games get played. Indiana football is no different. The Hoosiers upcoming series with Cincinnati and Louisville wee both scheduled under previous head coach Kevin Wilson. He has not coached the Hoosiers since 2016, but that is college football. Now it is Tom Allen and Scott Dolson’s chance to schedule games years in advance.

The Indiana Hoosiers will travel to Miami for the second time in three years to open the season against the Florida International Golden Panthers. The Hoosiers are currently 2-0 against FIU with wins in 2015 and 2016 before a hurricane cancelled last season's matchup in Bloomington. Throwback Thursday: Indiana 34 Florida International 13

Once again we will be doing our Throwback Thursdays by taking a look at last year's games. Today we start with the Hoosiers' impressive opening week win 34-13 over Florida International. The game set the tone for a defensive turnaround and was a great road victory. However, there were some warning signs of issues that'd rear their head later in the season. IU wasted a number of opportunities in the red zone, Richard Lagow was not as accurate a passer as he had shown in fall camp, and Griffin Oakes' struggles with what should be automatic field goals continued.
