Spring Practice Report 4/2/15

The pads were popping outside of Memorial Stadium on the IU practice fields as the team got in some more scrimmage work. Both first and second string saw plenty of action, which allowed for some of the younger guys to showcase their skills. Two players that stuck out were walk-on redshirt freshman running backs Alex Rodriguez and Ricky Brookins.
Coach Kevin Wilson talked about how those two have looked and how the running back position as a whole is shaping up, “Those are two nice guys, you know Rodriquez, strength wise…he’s not a super fast guy, he’s right at 4.6, ran about high 4.5’s for us, but he’s a load, he’s very, very strong, very, very explosive. He’s probably a little further along than Ricky. Ricky Brookins is a Terre Haute North kid, they’re both well, they’ll both be nice complementary pieces. Andrew Wilson the same. You got those three guys.”
"We’ve signed one coming in, you’ve got Jordan here doing good, Devine’s been good, Tommy off the knee. We’ll need all those guys. And they’ll have some special team value and maybe one of those guys will be in the mix to crack the top three. If we’re going today one of those guys might be in the top three, we’ll see if they can stay there as recruiting and our signee gets here and how they move forward.”
