Sources: Indiana to hire Jason Jones to Coach Safeties and Move Kasey Teegardin to Special Teams Coordinator

Staff changes for the Indiana football program continue to roll in a source has confirmed that former Florida Atlantic University defensive backs coach will be named the safeties coach. In a corresponding move Kasey Teegardin, the safeties coach for the Hoosiers the last two seasons, will be named special teams coordinator.
Last season at Florida Atlantic, Jones helped the entire defensive backs unit has set a new single-season record with 21 interceptions. The Hoosiers had seven interceptions and 43 pass breakups in 2019.
Jones just completed his 13th season as a college coach. Prior to Florida Atlantic, Jones spent five seasons as the co-defensive coordinator at the University of Mississippi. Jones also worked at Oklahoma State (2009-12), Tulsa (2005, 2007), Rice (2006) and Alabama (2004). Jones was also a two-year starter at corner for Alabama and helped lead the Crimson Tide to two SEC West titles and a SEC title in 1999. Jones has been on successful staffs throughout his career as he has coached in 12 bowl games in his 13 seasons.
Kasey Teegardin is entering his fifth-season with the Indiana Hoosiers football program. He spent the last two seasons as the safeties coach. Previously, Teegardin was a graduate assistant under Kevin Wilson (2014-2016) and led the on campus recruiting program in 2017.
Prior to arriving at Indiana, Teegradin served as special teams coordinator and linebackers coach at Valparaiso University (2012-13). He has been a part of three staffs that helped lead IU to bowl games (2015, ‘16, ‘19).
