Safety Louis Moore Returns to Indiana

Who says you can’t go home? The Indiana Hoosiers were in desperate need of a quality safety and a familiar face fell into their lap to fill the hole as former Hoosier Louis Moore signed with Curt Cignetti’s squad for the 2025 season. Moore left IU after a very strong 2023 campaign and headed to Ole Miss to play for Lane Kiffin. An injury limited him to just ten partial games but he still was a key member of the Rebels’ secondary.
Moore was a late addition to the portal and reportedly contacted Indiana to see if he a return to Bloomington would be agreeable. Curt Cignetti and Bryant Haines apparently liked what they heard from the senior safety and word leaked out via Pete Nakos of On3 and the incomparable Matt Weaver of Peegs.com on Saturday morning.
Louis Moore started his career at Navarro College in Texas before transferring to Indiana prior to the 2022 season. He played in all 12 games that season and recorded nine tackles. Moore improved a lot in the offseason and made ten starts in 2023, playing a key role in the secondary and finishing second on the team in tackles with 83 stops, three interceptions and three forced fumbles. Moore was one of the former JUCO players that picked up an extra year of eligibility recently per an NCAA decision and he is going to utilize that opportunity with a return to Bloomington. He figures to slot into the starting eleven on defense as a safety next to Amare Ferrell. IU is still likely to add one or two more transfer safeties for depth but adding a known commodity and veteran like Louis Moore is a huge plus and will go a long way towards shoring up the defensive backfield. Indiana’s 2025 defense is shaping up to be a fierce unit for opponents to deal with.
Hoosier Huddle will have continuing coverage of the transfer portal as IU builds their 2025 roster.
