The Indiana Hoosiers are beginning to build an extremely impressive 2022 recruiting class. Following his official visit, offensive lineman Carter Smith became the seventh commit in the class. The 6’6” offensive tackle prospect from Ohio is a high three-star recruit and considered the 12th best player in the talent-rich state. He is the first offensive lineman in the class and starred at Olentangy Liberty High School in Powell, Ohio and chose the Hoosiers over fellow finalists Northwestern, Tennessee and Virginia. Smith had more than 30 scholarship offers to choose from.

The 275-pound tackle took his official visit to Indiana on June 14 and loved what he saw. In addition to football, he plays volleyball in high school. That athleticism and foot movement is one of the things that stands out about Smith as a prospect. He has the frame you want in a tackle with long arms and he should be able to gain weight to get to a Big Ten tackle size in relatively short order.

The Hoosiers are building what could accurately be described as their most talented class of all time. There is a long time to go before this class is complete but the early returns are incredibly encouraging for Indiana football fans.
