The Indiana Hoosiers added depth to their special teams with a pledge from former ULM kicker Derek McCormick. Prior to joining the Warhawks, McCormick kicked for NAIA school Ave Maria where he was a 2019 All-Sun Division selection.

In two seasons at Ave Maria, McCormick played in 17 games and hit 15-of-29 field goals and 38-of-41 extra points. While the numbers don’t jump off the page, it was good enough to move to the FBS.

In his three seasons at ULM McCormick sat out the 2021 campaign and just handled the kickoff duties in 2022. In 2023, McCormick made 10-of-12 field goals and 16-of-17 extra point attempts. He also booted 23 touchbacks on 38 kickoffs.

The Hoosiers have redshirt freshman Nico Ridicic looking to handle place kicking duties, which could mean McCormick will handle the kickoff duties.
